Living Histories Resource Person

Living Histories in Living Sky School Division
Information Sheet
2012 – 2013
“Living Histories” is a Living Sky School Division program to support the goals of
Treaty Education in our schools by supporting classroom projects with:
 Guest artists and craftspeople (including singers and dancers)
 Cultural knowledge keepers
 Elders
 Storytellers
We would like to create a contact list of resource people who would like to be guests
in our schools and provide teachings related to the treaties, worldview, language,
and the arts. Treaty Essential Learnings are: 1) the treaties (basics), 2) treaty
relationship, 3) historical context of treaties, 4) worldviews, 5) symbolism in treaty
making, and 6) contemporary treaty issues.
Living Sky will administer requests from schools, contact potential guests and
arrange for payment following the visit. We are thankful to Sask Culture for an
Aboriginal Leadership grant this year that allows us to offer our guests:
 Travel
 Honoraria is $250/half day, $400/full day and $100 for 1 hour (this includes
your time to prepare for sessions)
To be included on our Resource List we require a contact form completed (give to
Sherron Burns) and a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerability Sector Search
submitted to Human Resources.
For more information or to discuss your ideas please contact:
o Sherron Burns, Treaty Education Consultant by email
[email protected] or by phone 937-7914.
