Cageball Rules

Cageball Rules
Object of the game: To score more runs than our opponent by hitting the ball into a
designated run scoring area of the batting cage.
Teams: A team consists of 3 or 4 players of any age. Teams can consist of baseball
players, softball players or a combination of baseball/softball players. Depending
upon the number of teams that enter the league, softball teams and baseball teams
may or may not compete against one another. Cost per each team will be $100.00.
Game play: A flip of the coin will determine the home/visiting team for each Cageball game. Each team will bat in a 3 or 4 person line-up given to the scorekeeper/
pitcher/umpire prior to starting the game. A game will consist of 2-6 inning games
per night with the completion of each half innings occurring when 3 outs are made.
The visiting team will hit first followed by the home team. A staff member located
behind an L-screen will throw front toss to the hitter. The “pitcher” will also be the
official scorer and umpire. Each time the ball is contacted by the bat either a run or
a out will be made. If a player swings and misses the ball it will be recorded as an
out. At the end of 6 innings the team with the most runs will be declared the winner.
Scoring: Every time that a ball is contacted for a “HIT” a run will be scored. 1 RUN is
scored on a ball that is hit beyond the L-Screen and hits the side of the batting cage
in the air. 2 RUNS are scored on a ball that hits the L-Screen in the air. 3 RUNS are
scored on a ball that hits the back of the cage in the air. 4 RUNS are scored on a line
drive that either sign in the air.
Outs: Outs are made when a ball is swung at and missed or hit into a spot not designated as a runs scoring area as mentioned above. Examples of a contacted ball that
would be considered outs are: foul balls/foul tips, any ground ball, any ball that first
hits the top of the cage, any ball that hits any part of the sidewall in front of the LScreen.
