JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: BTEC COMMUNITY COACH DEPARTMENT: CITC REPORTS TO: BTEC Officer LOCATION: Etihad Campus DATE: May 2017 _____________________________________________________________ Job purpose City in The Community Foundation are looking for a community coach to deliver on a variety of programmes inclusive of our BTEC Programme. Applicants must possess a passion for sport and have experience of working within a school and college environment delivering towards a set curriculum. Applicants should also have the desire to develop their own skills and knowledge in a high performance working environment. The role will be full time (37.5 hours) and will consist of planning and delivering practical sports sessions on our BTEC course and managing a team. Sessions will also be delivered in school and community environments. As well as delivering outstanding sessions, the successful applicant will also be expected to maintain and develop excellent relationships with schools, colleges and with the wider CITC team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate looking to progress their sports coaching career and to gain valuable experience working within a Premier League Community Foundation. _____________________________________________________________ Key responsibilities To plan and deliver football sessions for a BTEC group and manage a football team. To plan and deliver football coaching in a variety of community settings. To be a key member of the coaching staff ensuring all aspects of monitoring and evaluation are adhered to. To attend any internal/external training provided by CITC. To assist with the general administration, monitoring and evaluation of projects. To ensure all appropriate data is collected and inputted into the appropriate system. To support the development of quarterly reviews demonstrating the impact of all named programmes. To deliver towards all monthly quality assurance targets. General responsibilities Compliance with Club policies Compliance with the Club’s health and safety procedures To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably expected To maintain professional conduct at all times _____________________________________________________________ Key relationships All City in the Community Staff specifically: Education Manager BTEC Officer Other Community coaches Local schools and Colleges Local community facilities _____________________________________________________________ Scope of job The BTEC coach role will form a key part of the CITC team forming part of a delivery team that represents the Club throughout the community on a daily basis. The coach will be encouraged to learn on the job and become familiar with CITC processes and projects as they are given an opportunity to progress within the scheme. The BTEC coach should aim to develop their skills as much as possible attending any internal or external training that is provided. However, they will not have to manage a budget or supervise any staff members at this time. _________________________________________________________________ Person Specification Job Title: Community Coach BTEC Department/Location: CITC Knowledge Essential The successful candidate should have previous experience of planning and delivering high quality football sessions working towards a syllabus and have the ability to work towards improving players. Hold a minimum of a Level 3 Coaching Qualification (YAM3/UEFA B). Fully competent in the use of all IT systems. Hold a full, clean driving license and eligible to drive a minibus meeting CITC insurance pre requisites (driving for minimum of 3 years and over 25 years old) Desirable Coaching qualifications in a number of different sports. D1 Driving Licence General skills and attributes Essential Due to the nature of work successful candidates must demonstrate the following behaviours. Successful candidates will need to show excellent communication skills including a variety of delivery styles as they will be expected to deliver in a variety of settings. Candidates should be adaptable as they will have to work with a variety of ages and abilities when delivering sessions. Sessions will therefore need to be adapted to meet the needs of the group. Candidates should have excellent organisation skills as they will be expected to manage their own schedule and pre-plan sessions as well as work towards strict deadlines and be able to prioritise workload. Candidates will need to demonstrate the ability to work individually, with fellow CITC colleagues and other department within the club. Desirable Analytical skills would be desirable for reporting on projects and completing the monitoring and evaluation of sessions. Experience The successful candidate will have experience of working with young people or various groups within the community and a general understanding of the BTEC provision.
