Welcome Statement
On behalf of the Stewarts & Lloyds (Corby) Rugby Football Club Mini/Junior Section we would like to
welcome new and old members to the 2016/17 season. We hope this will be another exciting and
entertaining season and hope you will all enjoy the experience of rugby.
Stewarts & Lloyds (Corby) Rugby Football Club aims to provide opportunities for young people through
the age groups from under 7’s through to the under 17’s. The club is committed to providing a safe
environment for your child to develop their rugby skills. Emphasis is on the development and
enjoyment of rugby and whilst we recognise winning is desirable it is not the primary objective of the
mini and junior section. We welcome parents to all training sessions/games and encourage your
support.
One of our focus areas for this season is consistent communication between the club, parents, players
and members. We have created a new website in order to assist communications, but this requires
some effort of your behalf to ensure we can get the right communications to the right people at the
right time.
Although we aim not to make things onerous for parents/guardians and players, as our emphasis is
on Rugby being fun for players and for us all as families, we do have to conform to certain regulations
as stipulated by the Rugby Football Union. These elements ensure that we offer a regulated and safe
environment for us all to enjoy and contribute to a successful 2016/17 season.
Therefore, attached are some registration and membership activities that the club require you to
perform, so please have a read and action as requested. Also included is some information regarding
the equipment that is required for training and matches, both for the players and the parents. If you
have any further questions the Team Managers, Coaches or the Committee will always be willing to
answer them.
Thank you for choosing to play Rugby at our club and we are sure you and your children will have a
most enjoyable time.

define Stewarts and Lloyds and indeed the sport of Rugby.
The club has codes of conducts for all coaches’ officials and volunteers working with young children,
this also includes a code of conduct for parents and players and this are clearly displayed within the
Club and are available on the club website at www.stewartsandlloydsrfc.com
We are a club based solely on volunteers and the behaviour and outlook of all club members is crucial
to the success of the club and the environment we are trying to create.

introduce this to comply with legislation.
In addition to the above, Under the Licensing Act all parties that use the facilities of a private members
club are required to be fully paid up associates. Occasional visitors can be signed in i.e. visiting teams,
non-members attending functions at the club. Use of the facilities includes purchasing of alcoholic and

non-alcoholic drinks at the bar, food from the kitchen, changing rooms, toilets in fact any area that
the club has use of.

RFU Registration for new players only
In addition to club membership, All Mini and Junior players are required to be registered by Stewarts
& Lloyds RFC to the RFU using the RFU Young Player Registration Form. These forms are available and
if you have not been provided with one, please ask your Team Manager.
Please Note: If players are already registered to the club they do not need to re-register at the start of
the new season. Only players who are new to the club, are returning from playing for another club, or
who have not previously registered need to complete the form. Although there is no additional cost
for this, you will also be required to supply 2 passport photographs of your child.
5.
Offer your services if possible
As previously stated, we are a club made up of volunteers, so we are always glad of assistance. Parents
are asked to volunteer their services to their coordinator for helping to serve teas, coffees etc at the
clubhouse.
Please remember, we do not like to ask people to do things, so please let your coordinator know if
you can help with teas and if there is anything else you could do to support the team generally.
6.
Training Information
Training sessions are on Sunday mornings from 10.00 am until 12.00 noon. We appreciate it if children
can arrive promptly.
In addition some coaches offer midweek training sessions for their teams, please ask coaches/team
managers for details.
Players should have:
• Suitable warm clothing for training – including Black Rugby shorts and black and white hooped socks.
It gets cold in the winter for parents too, so please dress accordingly!
• Boots with the correct studs (please ask your coaches if not sure)
• Water bottle
• Gum shield (not essential for under 6s’s 7’s and 8’s)
• Clean clothing to enter the clubhouse after playing (especially footwear)
Rugby here at the Club is about children and parents participating together, therefore we encourage
all parents to stay with their child during the sessions and help form a ‘family environment’. It is an
opportunity for parents as well as the children to create a circle of friends. Regular social events are
held throughout the year to promote a sense of community. The coaches and the players like to know

that you as parents are there, encouraging and helping their children and others by giving praise and
joining in with their successes.
The clubhouse is open every Sunday during and after training to provide refreshments.
If you cannot remain with your child we would ask that you return to your child’s age group before 12
noon as at the end of every session there is a team discussion and information for parents.
7.
Match Information
Players should have suitable clothing, drinks and food in preparation for time delays and weather
conditions. If a player is unable to attend, the Coach/Team Manager should be informed as soon as
possible in order that alternative arrangements can be made.
Matches are played on a home/away basis which is arranged by the club fixtures secretary very early
in the year. Matches are subject to change and coaches will endeavor to inform all players of any
changes. Transport is the responsibility of parents, however shared travel is possible for those unable
to attend on Sunday, but please note this is something that should be arranged between parents and
the club accepts no responsibility for these arrangements.
