Achievements and Successes 2016

Dear Parent/Carer,
Achievements and Successes 2016
Having now settled well into the first term at The Hart School, I want to take this opportunity of
sharing with you information about the achievements and success of the students who left us
this summer at both GCSE and ‘A’ Level.
Post-16 Achievements
We are delighted to report that we achieved 100% ‘A’ Level pass rate in twenty subjects, with
the majority of students gaining A*-B grades in Law, Product Design, 3D Art, Fine Art, Sociology
and Textiles.
Level 3 vocational subjects continued to perform well, with a high percentage of Distinction* and
Distinction passes in Sport, Drama and Music.
Overall, the 2016 leavers made the best progress ever at ‘A’ level, and our students’
destinations include the best universities and the best higher level apprenticeships.
There were a number of individual student achievements, most notably Sian Wiggin, Jade
Windley, Danniella Wilde, Maisie Scoins, Mark Dixon, David Dwyer and Ashleigh Sanders.
More students than ever before are choosing to go to our successful 6th Form at The Hart
School. We celebrate their achievements in Year 11 and look forward to celebrating their further
success in two years’ time.
GCSE Performance
There are three new ways in which the government now ‘measures’ schools: the number of
good GCSE passes in both English and maths; the average GCSE grade in 8 subjects; the
progress made in 8 subjects.
I am delighted to report a number of notable achievements and a significant number of
individual student successes for students.
Across 8 subjects, all students attained an average grade of a good GCSE pass or better, i.e.
A*-C. Parents should, quite rightly, be provided with more detailed information about the A*-C
performance of subjects at The Hart School, and I am particularly pleased to report a number of
successes for individual subjects.

These stellar achievements ensured that students in both predecessor schools attained
excellent GCSE results and they provide the platform from which The Hart School will look to
continue to build on an improve.
A*-C attainment in both English and maths was 60%, whilst our result for five A*-C grades
including English and maths was 58%.
We are very pleased also with the progress made by our students in at least 8 subjects. The
following subjects exceeded the latest national averages for good progress:

The number of students achieving good A*-C passes in the English Baccalaureate also
increased to 27%, up by 8% from the previous year. We had a significant number of individual
successes, with many students achieving A to A* grades, however my congratulations go out to
every student for achieving their grades.
Notable successes were: Katie Hodson, John Langston, Ellie Holloway, Daniel Pardoe, Emily
Kuhn, Jack Dalziel, Cameron Deakin, Rebecca Perry, Maisie Bevan, Abbie Holloway, Katie
Leaver, Emma Vincent, Nathan Grove, Daniel Cook and Elizabeth Pee.
All of these results are extremely positive, and I would like to thank staff and students for their
hard work and commitment. They provide a great platform for The Hart School and its ambition
to continue to raise standards and provide a high quality education.
Thank you for your continued support.
