Highland Technology Programs 1. Highland Network To access the Highland student portal, go to Highland.edu, click on orange LOG IN button, or log onto one of our campus computer lab workstation for Moodle, Groupwise, & Filr. Type in the web address http://www.highland.edu click the orange LOG IN button near the top, right side of the screen. FIRST TIME HIGHLAND STUDENTS: In the Network Login field, type your first initial, middle initial, last name--no spaces. For example: jajones would be the username for John A Jones. The initial password is your six-digit birthdate, i.e. mo/da/yr. For example, 030677. When prompted, create a new password that is at least eight characters long, has an upper and lower case letter plus a number or symbol. Your password expires every 180 days.. CURRENT STUDENTS Network usernames and passwords remain the same. For more information go to highland.edu, select Students, select Help with Online Tools and Resources for additional information. February 2017 2. Moodle 3. GroupWise 4. Filr* Moodle is Highland’s online course management system, and gives students access to course content. Log in, click on the Moodle icon. A list of courses your instructor(s) have provided Moodle access for will be listed. GroupWise and GroupWise Mobile is your campus email. The username and password is the same as your Highland network login. For more help, see: http://highland.edu/online/index.asp Filr provides access to your Highland network files from locations with access to the Highland web page. Log into student or instructor portal, click on the Filr icon, follow instructions there. Best practice is to download your files, work on them, and reupload them back to Filr for use at Highland, or at home. 5. PaperCut PaperCut provides printing to any of the six web printers, cafeteria, Fine Arts by vending machines, T-139, library, Bldg. N front lobby. Log into Highland’s website, select PaperCut, select Web printing, and follow instructions there. PaperCut also tracks pages printed. Each student has approximately 100 sheets of paper per semester. To add money to your PaperCut account, go to the bookstore, library, or T-139. PaperCut balances do not roll-over from semester to semester. 6. ROAR * ROAR is not synchronized with the previous login information. ROAR is HCC’s student information and online registration program and completely separate from Highland network username and password. Your user name is a randomly-generated 9-digit number. Your initial pin is your six-digit birthdate. From the ROAR login page, click the “Lookup My ID” link to acquire your ID. See http://www.highland.edu/admissions/howtoreg.asp for more information about how to login and register online. * To login go to http://www.highland.edu/login.asp and enter your user name and password as indicated above. NEED HELP? Go to highland.edu, click orange Login button, click on “Need help logging in?”, email [email protected], go to T139, or the library for personal assistance. Color printing is available in the library. Best practice, be sure to log off your account when you are done. To log out, click the Start button, select Log Off or Shut Down command. Wireless service is available throughout campus. Note: Newly registered students may not have email accounts created until approximately two weeks before the current semester begins. February 2017
