The Job's Mission
To proactively plan and achieve IMD revenue targets within an assigned emerging market
across three product line offerings – Open Programs (OP), Partnership Programs (PP) and
the Corporate Learning Network (CLN) accomplished predominantly through direct
organizational client engagement. Additionally, you will be responsible for conducting
market and industry database analysis; for developing and maintaining the Customer
Relationship Management system (CRM) database; and for conducting analysis and
market research projects as directed in support of the Corporate Development Department
for the assigned emerging market.
Key Activities & Accountabilities
At IMD, Corporate Development Associate Directors are responsible for the development
and implementation of data driven strategies for emerging markets and with developing
business. Specifically, the Corporate Development Associate Director is expected to:


Deliver expected revenue results within the emerging market assigned.
Develop and sell learning and development solutions based upon the appropriate
combination of OP, PP and CLN memberships to organizations operating within the
assigned region.

Maintain and expand existing client relationships and acquire new clients through the
consistent application of IMD corporate development strategies, tools, policies and
procedures.
Qualify and coordinate OP, PP and CLN opportunities, winning strategies and proposal
review with respective departmental heads.
As approved by the Head of Department, effectively market the IMD programs within
the emerging market assigned through targeted sales events.
Work effectively with Corporate Development Directors (CDDs), Corporate
Development Associates (CDAs) and other CDADs as well as with members within
and outside of the department.
Establish a common strategy within the CD Team.
Utilize departmental sales processes and client classification schemas.
Meet departmental expectations for activity, CRM documentation and overall approach.
Develop client and industry learning and development trend data regarding
organizations operating within the assigned region.
Maintain and expand the existing client relationship data base and create reports that
support the consistent application of IMD corporate development strategies, tools,
policies and procedures.
Follow up on client related requests.
Innovate in finding new marketing tools to serve existing clients and to reach new client
segments.
The ideal profile
The ideal candidate for the role of Corporate Development Associate Director will have a
minimum of 6 years of experience in a combination of market research and reporting and
strategic client acquisition through solutions selling in an international environment. He or
she will have developed a global mind-set through living and working in an international
environment and will possess a combination of industry, consultancy, performance
improvement/management, and professional development experience ideally in an
executive education context. Comfortable operating at various levels within client
organizations, including at the C-level, the ideal candidate will possess a demonstrated
track record of capability in operating within the framework of One IMD consistent with the
three core values – open, collaborative and pioneering.
Education

University Degree in a related field such as Business Administration, Strategy,
Marketing, Mathematics, Statistics, or Commerce (MBA or graduate equivalent highly
preferred).
Experience


A proven track record of solutions-based strategic selling at the executive level in
global organizations.
Relevant experience in and understanding of assigned region.

Competencies








Ability to sell and negotiate intangible solutions in a strategic context.
Ability to sell through insight (Challenger Sales approach).
Willingness and ability to effectively contribute in a team-oriented, matrix environment.
Excellent oral, written, presentation and reporting communication skills.
Consistently work within a CRM system context (Siebel preferred) for documenting
activity, tracking results, analysis, and reporting.
Develop a thorough understanding of learning and development theory, application and
evolution in the corporate context.
Language skills appropriate to assigned emerging market (Fluent in Arabic) as well as
proficiency in English (required) and French (highly desirable).
Willingness to travel within assigned emerging market up to 50% of the time.
