Lorem Ipsum Dolor 22 September 2014 THE BUZZ Aliquam sed eros | Nulla facilisi | Lorem vitae elit Welcome one and all to this season’s first CLUB newsletter where we hope to bring you up to date with what’s going on here at HTFC. However we can only do this with your help so if you’ve got a story please get in touch. It doesn’t matter what it’s about or how big or small as long as it’s CLUB related Harboro’ Town is run on an entirely voluntary basis and there is always a need for a fresh influx of helpers and ideas. The future success of the club depends on its members as we strive to become one of the best clubs in the country. If you want to get involved and can spare some time please contact Andy Winston 078460 44090 or Sue Fraser @the Club. No offers of help will be turned down no matter how big or small. Forthcoming Club Events.. The end of last season saw three stalwarts of the Club Pete Dougan, Andy Walker (both pictured above with Fiona Cairns) and Dave Nibloe all call time on their respective illustrious career’s which saw them represent Harboro’ Town at Senior level and in recent times the Vets with Pete & Dave both managing the Vets. Their involvement with the Club however doesn’t end here as Pete is now coaching within the Girls section and Andy & Dave are continuing their support of the bar facilities at the Club. All three have been a credit to the Club both on and off the field and any of us who have been lucky enough to socialise with them will have learnt valuble lessons (when to call it a night being the most valuable). Andy and Pete’s promotion of the Club knows no bounds and the pairs crowning glory must have been their appearance on Fiona Cairns’s ITV cake baking show where both showed off both their unique baking skills and legendary humour. I do hope that you find the newsletter of interest and it is our intention to try and produce a newsletter on a monthly basis which will be sent to all members. At the recent Extraordinary General Meeting the interim committee was elected as the Football Committee and elsewhere in this publication you will find the contact details for the Officers and committee members. All of the Officers and Committee Members are volunteers who give up endless hours every week to administer the football club who without their commitment this club could not survive. The town of Market Harborough is incredibly fortunate to have one of the finest football facilities in the East Midlands, and a football club that has yet to achieve its full potential. As a community club our vision is to provide football from the ages of five to sixty five irrespective of ability and gender. Harborough Town is a club which in terms of size and number of teams is larger than most professional clubs, and on occasions I think we all forget how large this club is, and the pressure that brings to the volunteers who run the club. We currently have 40 teams playing in 6 different Youth Leagues, 1 Inclusive League and 2 adult leagues. This season we have formed an U18's Midweek Youth Team who recently won in the first round of the County Cup against a strong Coalville Town, this is a vital step forward . It is so pleasing to see the different age groups of boys and girls every Sunday, over 400 young people play football every week for the club, we now have over 40 girls regularly playing for the club. Against this backdrop is a very real need to build a football club that is sustainable and is the hub of the local community. I have been involved in football for nearly fifty years and I find incredible that so few people use the club facilities on match days. Now I appreciate that there will be many reasons, and I am also aware that people are unsure when the club is open, so my first commitment is that we will look at ways of having the club open on a more regular basis as it is vital for the long term future of the football club that everyone be it player, spectator mum or dad or grandparents make use of this wonderful facility. We have a facility to be proud of, but it comes at a cost, and if people do not use the facility on a regular basis then the cost to play football will increase, and as Chairman I am determined to keep the costs to play as low as we can. Lorum Ipsum Dolor 2 Lorem Ipsum Dolor 22 September 2014 The football club has been going through a period of transition and the structure is complicated, this has to change and we need to have a simple structure and a club that is run on a professional basis to ensure that we provide the very best experience for players of all ages. With this in mind it is my intention to undertake a review all aspects of the club and where appropriate make changes that will benefit all of the members. Football clubs are complex places with I guess a fair amount of passion and emotion, and people will have very strong views, I welcome any thoughts that people have on how they would like the club to operate as at the end of the day this is and always will be a members club. My experience to date is that the club is disjointed, communication is not very good and the members are not using the facility, so we must look inwardly as to why people are not engaging with the club and make changes that will encourage people to belong and play an active part in the life of the club. The club desperately needs volunteers to assist in the running and administration of the youth section. The adult section needs volunteers to help out on match days, so no doubt this will be the first of many appeals if you are interested please step forward and help what is a very small, incredibly dedicated band of volunteers in the running of the football club. I cannot stress how important it is for the members to play an active role, we are currently building a database of all members, and we will produce a monthly newsletter to keep members in touch. A club Twitter account has been set up, and if there are any website experts connected to the club we are in desperate need of a new website so that we can promote the club and the social events we plan to run to the outside world. The club is going to run a number of social events, and again it's the start of a journey, what has gone in the past is now long gone, and if the town of Market Harborough is serious about having a football club people really do need to support these events. Remember the club is a not for profit organisation so all revenue generated goes back into the club to sustain and support football. As Chairman I have a very clear vision of what could be achieved but it will only be achieved by everyone connected to the club playing their part. We will not always get it right, but please remember every decision made is done so with the best interests of Harborough Town in mind. Before I close as Chairman I would pay tribute to all of the managers and coaches who put so much effort into their teams and players, all voluntary and done with great dedication. I would ask all parents to support their managers and coaches, many of whom may be learning their trade, and please play an active role as more often or not it is the coach who has to put up the nets, find someone to run the line, and all of this takes the coach away from his real role which is to teach and coach the young players of this club. Finally over the next two months or so I will be assessing very aspect of this club and I will be formulating a plan to take the club forward, in a future edition I will share my thoughts and the vision for the future. The best thing about HTFC, it's a mix really from the under cooked hamburgers to the watered down beer to the cold wet training nights of 3 a side. No honestly it's a fantastic club with great members and players and something we all can be proud of and be part of. What’s Worst thing about HTFC? The worst thing about HTFC. Remember it's a football club for people to play football and enjoy the game and it's not a business. We have over the years forgotten who we are and need to find that again. Football is for the people. Who are the best & worst players in your team & why? Best player, that's a tricky one but I would have to say Dan Church AKA Lardy, as a goalkeeper your either the hero or the villain but Dan isn’t either of them. He in fact is a guy who week in week out plays with a massive smile on his face and trains 150%. The worst Player, Kleber AKA The flying Dutch Brazilian, the only thing Dutch is the clogs he wears to training and the Brazilian, well you don't need to be a rocket scientist to work that out.
