Just when we think we have the “perfect plan”, Mother Nature reminds us that she always has the last word. Please be assured that our board is doing everything we can to get as many games played as possible this spring. Just like each of you, we have kiddos playing soccer as well and know how important it is to them to get every game played. We have set aside another rain out day on Sunday, May 3, 2015 in an attempt to get our opening weekend games (from March 7th) made up. If we have more rainouts between now and then we may end up not getting all seven regular season games played. Unfortunately, over the past fifteen years, this has occurred three other times. Off Season Activities I want to remind everyone that we have several youth soccer camps this summer designed to support our youth soccer players. Our camp menu provides opportunities for our first time players, recreational players or the “hard core” competitive players. Please review these options and decide what’s best for your kids. Likewise, we also offer adult leagues and a variety of tournaments. Spring Outdoor Season Summer Boot Camp Friendly Tournament MYSA State Cup British Soccer Camps Adult League USSSA Tournament MYSA President’s Cup Brazilian Soccer Camps Patriot Cup Tournament Summer 3v3 Tournament Fall Outdoor Season Technology Upgrades In May 2015, we will unveil our new website which was developed to improve member access to vital information with a user friendly, interactive system. The website is another way to utilize technology to reach our youngest and most technology gifted players. I know our youngest members are excited about this progress. Sporting Lee’s Summit SC Academy In May 2015, the board will announce our new Sporting Lee’s Summit SC Academy coaching staff for the first time. These are coaches who have been vetted through a season long interview process, as the committee had to decide who should coach our players at the highest level and who will ensure our players are getting developed at the right pace. The academy culture will challenge players and give them skills needed to compete for high school and college rosters. Please note, the Academy program is self-supportive and fees collected from those members will pay for all applicable expenses. In FY2015-16, the Sporting Lee’s Summit SC Academy will have (20-24) teams. These teams will be as follows: Boys = Girls = U7-U8-U9-U10-U11-U12-U13-U14-U15-U16-U17-U18 U7-U8-U9-U10-U11-U12-U13-U14-U15-U16-U17-U18 There will only be one single team in each age group. We will not have a Varsity, Junior Varsity and/or C Team, for example, in each age group. The rosters will be designed to have the number of players required to be on the field, plus a maximum of 3-5 substitutes. The final roster sizes will be determined by the head coach and technical director. Please look for team tryout information on the website. We will host team tryouts the beginning of June in compliance with the Missouri Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) guidelines. As we continue to develop our new logo and brand “Sporting Lee’s Summit SC”, please know that we will hold onto our traditions that have made our league so successful such as providing outstanding programs to ALL members regardless of skill levels, age or gender. If you have any comments, questions or concerns, please send them to me via our website at www.LSSA.org. Sincerely, Ron Cox Sporting Lee’s Summit SC President
