Math 7 & 8 Digits How to Access the online Digits curriculum 1. Open Safari (Apple computer) or Internet Explorer (PC) 2. Be sure to allow the popups! a. In Safari, click on Safari and make sure the “Block Popups” is not checked. b. Internet Explorer, click on Tools, Pop-up Blocker, and Turn off Pop-up Blocker. 3. Go to Mymathuniverse.com 4. Put in your user name (see front of your planner for your username): a. The user name is student last name (no hyphens) and a three or four digit number. Examples: Weber9832 or Flintstone256. 5. Put in your password (see front of your planner for your password): a. The password is the data dashboard ID number followed by A Examples: 0987654A b. It should always start with a zero. Do not put any spaces between the zero, your number, and A 6. Click on “digits – grade 7” or “digits – grade 8”. You must point directly to the words when clicking. Click Here! 7. You will see something like this 8. To find assignments click on “To Do” Common problems when logging in I don’t see the assignment under “To Do” (common for people who have been doing paper HW) If there are multiple assignments in your “To Do” you may have to scroll down and click on the “show more” tab to see the remainder of the assignments A Pearson page keeps coming up after I type in my user name/password and it wants me to type it in again. This means the user name and/or password was typed incorrectly. They are case sensitive so be sure you are typing it exactly as it appears on your sticker inside your planner. Close the “Welcome to Pearson” window and go back to mymathuniverse.com to re-enter the information. Can I log into Digits using my iPad? Digits is not compatible with iPad. I can’t open the homework assignment. When I click on “Start” or “Try Again” nothing happens. This is because the pop ups are being blocked. Please change your browser settings to allow pop ups. (See step #2 on reverse side of this paper) Then refresh your Internet page and click on “Start” or “Try Again”. I completed some questions the last time I logged in, but now it is starting me all over again. Be sure you click on “Save” before exiting the homework assignment. Also see “Homework Tech Help” tip sheet. HOMEWORK TECH HELP Once you are logged into mymathuniverse.com and have selected “digits – 7”, Click on “To Do”. In “To Do” you will see the homework assignment. Be sure the name matches the assignment you have written down in your planner. You may have to scroll down and click on “show more” to find your assignment. If this is the first time you are logging into the homework, you will see the word “Start” here. If you have started the homework and are returning to complete it, or to improve your score, it will say “Try Again”. Click on “Start” or “Try again”. HINT: If nothing happens when you click the button, it means the pop up windows are blocked. You must change your browser settings to allow pop ups. Then refresh the page and you should be able to access the homework. The homework will load. Be patient as this may take several seconds. Homework screen explanation: After you have clicked inside the answer box, these choices become available. If your answer is a fraction you need to change the box type. 1. Click inside answer box to type your answer or change the answer box to match. 3. Only click “Save” AFTER “Check Answer” and only when you are all the way done or need to save your homework for later. 2. Click on “Check Answer” to get instant feedback and it also saves/submits your answer. It will be an available option after you enter your answer. If your answer is correct, click on OK. Then #2 to get the next question. When done with question #10, click on the arrow right next to it to get questions #11-15 (if assigned). If the answer is incorrect, click on done and try again. After a couple incorrect answers, the computer will tell you the correct answer and allow you to try a similar problem. Don’t forget to use the “Help Me Solve This” and all the features on the right hand side. When you are done attempting this question, click on the next problem number. If you need to exit the homework before you are done, be sure to click “Check Answer” for the question you are on, and then click on “Save”. The next time you log in you will be brought to the NEXT question to answer.
