Empowered to be the Head no the Tail.
The definition of leadership is influence. As Henry Blackaby says it is the ability to move people from
their own agenda onto God’s agenda. To be able to bring them into a face to face encounter with
God. In saying that our natural ability and gifting can only take us so far but it is the power of the
Holy Spirit that enables us to fulfil that which God has called us to.
Deut 28:1-2
God gives us conditions of Blessings as well as Curses.
Obedience = Blessing
Continued Disobedience = Curses
I love the heart that David displayed in Psalm 119:33-34 when he says, “Just tell me what to do
and I will do it, Lord. As long as I live I’ll wholeheartedly obey”
James confirms David when he says in James 2:24 “We please God by what we do and not only
by what we believe”
Deut 28:12-13
1. Why do you think that God delights in our obedience?
The truth is that we can’t be fully obedient in our own strength because we are sinful by nature. We
need HELP!!
“The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I
have spoken to you are spirit and life.”
John 6:63 (NLT)
2. God knows our weaknesses and like a loving Father He has sent us help to accomplish what he
has called us to accomplish. Would you consider yourself to be a person that is relying on the
Holy Spirit daily? If yes then how? If no then why?
The “fruit of the Spirit” are the qualities that God puts in your life when the Holy Spirit lives through
you. They are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and selfcontrol.
3. Which of the above fruits of the Spirit do you struggle with the most? Why do you think you
struggle in that area? How are you planning to overcome that struggle?

We are called to be pipelines of God’s power not mere containers that keep running out – Matt

Pray for:
1. The Star Wars series that is featuring during the holidays as it teaches us about who the Holy
Spirit is.
2. Holiday Club that runs during the holidays for our grade 00-6. That many families will start
attending our church because of Holiday Club.
3. All the new Life Group Leaders that will be starting new Life Groups in Term 3.
