If property is received via mail with no sender or address, it will not go to the prisoner’s property box. If unclaimed, it will be disposed of. CLOTHING 4 x sets of underwear - Can be jocks, boxer shorts, or combination of both 4 x pairs of socks 4 x white thermals – including long johns, round or v-neck long sleeve T-shirts 4 x white round or v-neck t-shirts – cotton only, no collar, no buttons, no pocket, no logo of any sort 4 x white singlets – plain (undergarment type) white only – NOT sleeveless racerback / muscle tops Clothing for court - these will be placed into the prisoner’s property, not issued. **No runners accepted** 6 x handkerchiefs 2 x pairs of pyjamas **not green or blue in colour** 1 x pair of black shorts (loose fitting non-mesh material, not cargo or running shorts, above knee length) Note: All clothing items must be new. No items with logos, collars, zips or buttons. Any design that allows the ability to secrete items will also not be accepted. No items with pockets except black shorts. READING Maximum of 2 x newspapers and / or 2 x magazines (dropped off in person only) Maximum of 2 x reading books legal papers The following items are NOT accepted: Erotic / pornographic material or descriptions of male / female genitalia or women’s breasts Content relating to violence, military, weaponry, drugs, hydroponics, home brewing, bombs, tattoos, terrorism, violence, gang-related material, breaching prison rules or inciting violence or public unrest Restricted magazines including Picture, People, Cosmopolitan, Playboy, Penthouse, Cleo, Live to Ride, Zoo and FHM OTHER Letters and cards – no blank cards / envelopes, no empty stamped addressed envelopes, no homemade paper. Must not contain musical features, metal, laminates, stickers, glue, glitter, beads, lipstick, lip gloss No paintings of any kind will be accepted 6 x photos up to A4 size. No laminates or Polaroids. A4 size sheets accepted as 1 x photo, regardless of the number of images on it. No photos of children under the age of 17 to be issued to Category A Restricted Access prisoners No CDs / DVDs will be accepted, including those on some editions of magazines All other property is UNAUTHORISED unless prior approval is granted by an Operations Manager. As at 13 July 2017 Page 1 of 2 VISITS TIMES Sentenced prisoners are entitled to a maximum of 2 x 2 hour visits per week which run on Saturdays and Sundays and on some Public Holidays. Remand prisoners are entitled to a maximum of 4 x 2 hr visits per week, which run on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. All visits are required to be booked by the prisoners and all visitors must be placed on the prisoner’s Visit List. If you are not on that list you will not be allowed to have a visit. You will be issued with a Visitors Card which you must bring with you each time you visit. Dress Code Visitors must be appropriately attired, not wear revealing or see-through clothing and are required to wear foot wear. Those visitors who do not comply with this policy may not be permitted to enter the prison. Identification Whenever you come to Marngoneet or to any other prison, a total of 100 points is required. Satisfactory identification must be current and can be any of the following: 100 POINTS 50 POINTS 25 POINTS* Current Driver Licence (with photo) 60+ Card Medicare Card Correctional Services Pass Birth Certificate Healthcare Card Consulate ID Card Marriage Certificate Student Card Valid Passport Australian Citizenship Certificate Credit Card Law Card Defence Department ID Bank Book Firearms Licence Government-authorised under 16 card Proof of Age Card Key Pass Police Member ID Ombudsman Photo ID Card Working with Children Card *In the 25 point category, only one of each of the satisfactory identification will be accepted, ie 1 x credit card, 1 x bank book, 1 x Healthcare card, 1 x Medicare card. Four of these items together equals 100 points. Source: corrections.vic.gov.au Visitor Courtesy bus There is a courtesy bus provided for visitors that is operated by Prison Fellowship volunteers. This bus meets trains at the Lara Train Station and drops off and picks up visitors attending Karreenga, Marngoneet and Barwon prisons.
