Biology -D.I.Y. EOCT Review Game Objective: You will work in groups to create an End of Course Test review game for a DOMAIN your teacher will assign. Your games will be played by all your classmates, so they need to be 1. Correct 4. Clear and easy to understand, and, most importantly, 2. Informative 5. FUN! 3. Thorough Your group will be assigned a specific domain for which you will create a game. You will be given a list of terms and concepts which fall under your domain, but you will be responsible for coming up with your review materials. Depending on the type of review game you choose, your review materials might be multiple choice questions, short answer questions, true/false, matching, etc. (or a mixture of all of the above!). You will have 3 days to complete your task. We will begin playing the review games on Tuesday, December 13th.. Goals for deadline #1: Proposal due (Friday 12/2/16) Make a list of materials you will need to bring in over the next few days and delegate responsibilities. o Items you may need to bring in: poster board, index cards, dice, game pieces, etc o Items available in the classroom: markers, crayons, colored pencils, rulers, glue, etc Decide the type of game which will work best for your assigned domain concept. o Possible ideas: Board Game (think Candy Land), Memory, BINGO, Who has? I have., Taboo, Jeopardy (low tech, no computers), or your own creation! Brainstorm the rules, point system, object, and general layout for your review game. Goals for deadline #2: Progress check (Thursday 12/7/16) Create the review content for your game o You must have at least 20 low level questions (KNOW – vocab definitions, identification of pictures) o You must have at least 10 high level questions (UNDERSTAND and BE ABLE TO – analyze, compare, etc) o You must have review questions from every major concept within your domain Begin creating a colorful, fun, and complete version of your game! Goals for deadline #3: The entire class period will be devoted to finalizing the game (Monday 12/12/16) Finalize your game/game rules & organize your materials in an understandable way. o Make sure everything is labeled and easily identified as belonging to your game. PLAY YOUR GAME!! o Verify that your game rules and the game itself make sense o Make sure your questions are understandable and accurate Peer review another group’s game. o They play yours, you play theirs.
