on carbs, then fats, then sodium, then labels,
then a grocery tour or a virtual one with a
video and a cooking class and eat out.

start sometime in September.
I was creaky when I got up today! Yesterday,
I did some yard work and I am paying for it
today! I don’t mind getting old; I love the
experience and wisdom it has brought…I just
want my body to do the things it did 20 years
ago! But, what can we do? Actually, a lot!
Many studies have shown that up to 70% of
what most people consider aging – weakness,
aching joints, poor balance and diabetes – can
be postponed indefinitely by doing a few
simple things…and I’m sorry, it is not as easy
as taking a pill.
The Dirty 8 letter word
Exercise – Exercise is our master control for
growth. If you exercise at any age, your body
starts to improve.
However, different
exercises affect you differently. There are
two basic types of exercise – aerobic and
strength. You need BOTH! Aerobic exercise
keeps your lungs and heart healthy and burns
fat. You can get this by swimming, biking or
something as simple as walking. Do any
exercise that gets your heart beating faster,
helps you lose weight and keeps you fit...at
least four days a week for the rest of your life!
The second kind of exercise is strength
training. You can accomplish this with your
own body weight, exercise equipment or
weights. The goal is to strengthen those
muscles.
People who are active and around other
people live happier and healthier lives. Give
and get love and friendship! Nurture your
friendship and family relationships. Get
involved with something! Get excited about a
project! Find an issue that you are passionate
about and fight for it! Get the blood flowing.
