Assistant Program Director
Lightning is looking for an Assistant Program Director able to begin work in July 2017. We are
seeking someone who is committed to the sport of soccer, wants to help build the club, wants to
live in the area long-term, is a team player, and is excited about opportunity. The ideal candidate
will have an educational background and/or work experiences that show an ability to
successfully accomplish most or all of the following:
Internal Communications:
• Establish and maintain a professional line of communication between the club
administration, coaches, parents, and players.
• Provide support and timely communication to coaches, parents, and players in navigating
registration, travel, games and practices.
• Maintain and edit team websites with accurate and relevant information.
External Communications:
• Create advertising and communication pieces for the club's programs through print,
social media, fliers, posters, etc.
• Communicate with outside organizations with regards to player development
opportunities (such as PDP).
• Communicate and coordinate with leagues and other external organizations in providing
services and events that pertain to the club's activities.
Planning & Support:
• Assist the Program Director with planning, preparing and executing club events such as
jamborees, tryouts, and camps.
• Assist the Program Director with planning and preparing for tournaments, including
registering teams attending, team hotel blocks, coach hotel blocks and game schedule
oversight.
• Create practice and game schedules for all teams that best align with coach, parent, and
player needs.
• Monitor team roster numbers and provide any accommodations (i.e., organize borrowing
guest players from other Lightning teams) to teams needing help.
• Assist the Equipment Manager in ordering and organizing all equipment and
supplemental materials.
• Assist the Equipment Manager in providing equipment to coaches for the season and outof-season events.
• Order and distribute coaching attire.
• Organize and schedule out-of-season scrimmages with other clubs to promote continued
player and team development.
• Execute any other duties as delegated by the Program Director, Director of Coaching, or
Business Manager.
Soccer Support:
• Coach up to three teams per season, which may include coaching our clinic for 6-10 year

Coach winter and pre-season training, and summer day camps, as needed.
Assist Director of Coaching in overseeing player development aligned with the club’s
philosophy.
Assist Director of Coaching in overseeing continued coach development and licensure.
Assist Director of Coaching in monitoring club practices and providing coaches with
advice and assistance.
Assist in recruiting and maintaining competitive team rosters and coaching staff to
promote best player and team development.
Provide coverage of practices for coaches when needed.
Travel to meetings, team and league events and represent the club as needed.

Required Education: Bachelor Degree OR an equivalent combination of education/job related
experience, OR experience working in athletics administration, operations, or coaching.
Skills:
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Docs, email, and willingness to learn any program
needed.
• Highly organized, efficient, able to handle multiple projects and deadlines with excellent
attention to detail.
• Strong initiative to solve problems.
• Able to gain and maintain working knowledge of league rules and regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Strong social and interpersonal skills to listen and communicate effectively with coaches,
parents and players.
Certifications:
• None required.
• Soccer coaching certifications favored.
