Doubles
REGULAR SEASON
The regular season will consist of 3 weeks for competitive leagues and 5 weeks for recreational leagues. Divisions will
consist of 4 teams.
GAME SITES
GAME
Matches will be played on the Broward Outdoor Recreation Center.
Singles teams will consist of a single player. Doubles teams will consist of two players. All matches play an eight game pro
set – that is, the first player to 8 games wins the match. The margin of winning must be at least 2 games.
OVERTIME
If the score is tied 40-40, the next point wins the game. A set must be won by a margin of at least 2 games. That is, if the
score in games reaches 7-7, it must be won 9-7, or if the score in games reaches 8-8, players will play a 12 point tiebreaker.
FORFEITS
GAME TIME IS FORFEIT TIME. If the player/team is not there AT GAME TIME then that player/team will forfeit. A Doubles
team must have BOTH players signed in at game time or else it is a forfeit. If neither player/team shows up it will be a
double forfeit and both players/teams will be charged a forfeit fee.
EQUIPMENT
Players will be responsible to supply tennis balls and racquets for each match. Tennis balls and racquets may be checked
out at the BORC equipment room.
PLAYOFFS
Only players/teams that have a .500 winning percentage or higher will be entered into the playoffs. Players/teams under
.500 or below 4.0 sportsmanship must email the league coordinator by the end of the regular season to participate in
playoffs. Players will be seeded based on record and game differential and this seeding will then be used to create a
playoff bracket for each league. This bracket will be posted on IMLeagues and emailed out to the participants. The Playoff
Selection Draft will be held online on IMLeagues.com. Please check the Playoff Information Sheet at recsports.ufl.edu for
more information.
CHAMPIONSHIPS
RULES REVIEW
Intramural Sports Championship shirts will be awarded to the winning players in the COMPETITIVE Leagues only.
U.S.T.A will govern all rules not covered in this sheet. If assistance is needed or rules need to be cleared up, please email
the league coordinator before your next match.

The “No-Ad” method of scoring will be used. That is, if the score goes to 40-40, the next point wins the game.

If tied 40-40, the receiver will choose which side of the court he/she would like to receive. If a match reaches 77 a team must win by 2 games. If a match is tied 8-8, the 12 Point Tie-Breaker will be used.
Rules for the 12 Point Tie-Breaker:

Singles: “A” serves first point; “B” serves points 2 and 3; “A” serves 4 and 5; “B” serves 6; players switch
sides, “B” serves 7; “A” serves 8 and 9; “B” serves 10 and 11; “A” serves 12

Doubles: Follow the same pattern, assuming A&B vs. C&D. Player “A” serves first point; “C” serves 2 and
3; “B” serves 4 and 5; “D” serves 6; players switch sides, “D” serves 7; “A” serves 8 and 9; “C” serves 10
and 11; “B” serves 12.

If score is tied, players switch sides and continue until 1 player is winning by 2 points.

Register your IMLeagues Account
a.
Go to https://www.recsports.ufl.edu.
b. Under the Intramural Sports tab, click on IMLeagues.
c.
Sign on using your Gatorlink username and password.
d. Complete the required information and click Sign In.
e. Click the University of Florida link at the top of the page.

Signing Up A Team For An Intramural Sport
a.
Log in to your IMLeagues account using your Gatorlink username and password.
b. Click the Create Team button at the top right of your Use Homepage OR click on the University of
Florida link and go to the school’s homepage on IMLeagues.
c.
Select Tennis Singles/Doubles and the League and Division you wish to play in (if registration has
not opened yet, you may organize your team in the Waitlist. Once registration opens you must log in
and move your team from the Waitlist to desired Division).
d. Click Create Team.
e. View the “Captain’s Training Video” embedded via YouTube and review Sport Rules.
f.
Complete the “Tennis Singles/Doubles Captain’s Quiz”.
g.
You must obtain an 80% or higher on this quiz to be eligible to register. An unlimited number of
attempts are allowed.
h. Once you pass, enter all necessary information and click Submit.
i.
If registration has not opened and your team has been added to the wait list, once league
registration opens you must move your team to desired Division.
i. Log in to your IMLeagues.com account.
ii. Select your team from the “Teams” section on your homepage.
iii. A red banner will appear at the top of the next screen prompting you to “click here” to
view open spots in Divisions.
iv. Review open Divisions and select “Move to Division”.
3.
Joining An Intramural Sports Team
a.
Create a Team (for team captains only)
i. Invite members to the team
ii. If team member has already registered on IMLeagues, search for his/her name and invite
him/her, all invited members must accept the invitation to be added to your team
iii. If team member is not registered on IMLeagues, scroll down to the “Invite by Email
Address” box an input his/her email address.
Join a Team
a.
Click the orange Join Team icon button at the top of your homepage.
b. Select Tennis Singles/Doubles and the League and Division which your desired team is registered.
c.
A list of teams playing in that division will load, select the team you wish you join by clicking the
orange Join Team icon.
d. Agree to the waiver and fill in all necessary information.
e. A message will be sent to the captain of the team you asked to join, once the captain has given
approval you will be added to the roster.
REGISTRATION PROCESS
4.
You may organize your team early on the Waitlist (training, quiz and adding team members). However, once
registration opens you MUST move your team from the Waitlist to desired Division; otherwise your team will remain on
the waitlist and not be scheduled for play.
