37.5 hours per week (Monday-Friday 9-5:30)

We are seeking a lawyer to join the established and well regarded Family team in our Bristol
office. The role will include support for senior members of the team as well as an individual
caseload.
This is an exciting opportunity within a technically strong peer group to develop skills in
family law whilst being supported and mentored to develop knowledge and expertise
particularly in the area of private children law.
Reporting directly to the Head of Family, the Family Assistant Solicitor will receive
supervision from the team to develop and enhance their existing skills.
Objectives:
 To undertake fee-earning work and provide a profitable contribution to the work of
the department.
 To maintain relationships with staff and clients in accordance with the Company’s
values.
 To comply with the Company’s policies in the undertaking of all duties.
 To assist the successful development of the Company in line with the business plan.
 To meet individual performance targets as prescribed and agreed from year-to-year.
 To assist the Department in meeting departmental performance targets.

The Role:
 Conduct of matters on behalf of clients in family law and related matters.
 Management of support services for which you are responsible, including supervision
of secretarial support.
 Maintaining orderly and up-to-date files including electronically and complying with
the Company’s policies on file management.
 Completing time recording and other management records required by the Company.
 Cross-referring work and clients within the Company.
 Ensuring compliance is adhered to in all activities including Lexcel compliance.
 Financial control with particular regard to cash flow through collection of monies on
account and billing procedures.
 Recognising fee-earning opportunities and developing as appropriate.
Company’s Expectations:
 Complying with the Company’s policies in the undertaking of its duties and assisting
the directors and staff in achieving a smooth and prompt throughput of work.
 Supporting the successful development of the Company in line with its overall
objectives including client care.
 Participating in marketing activities and cross referral work whether on a firm wide,
departmental or office basis.
 Using and assisting in the development of relevant IT and case management
systems for your department.
 Complying with the relevant Solicitors Accounts Rules, Solicitors Code of Conduct
and the Money Laundering Regulations Firm/Solicitor Regulation Authority Guidance.
 Identifying and meeting your job related training and development.
 Any other matters reasonably required by the Directors.
Required:
 Qualified solicitor (expectation NQ – 5yrs qualified)
 Experience in: divorce and financial remedy in medium to high net worth cases,
 Experience in: private law children cases,
 Willingness to participate in the growth and future development of the department,
building up the client base and marketing the Company’s services.
Desirable:
 Training undertaken within a medium-large firm.
 Aspiration to Resolution accreditation or accreditation in private law children related
topic.
 Experience of drafting pre-and post-nuptial and living together agreements.
Skills Required:
 Smart in appearance and manner.
 Self-motivated and clear thinking and able to carry out case work accurately and with
minimal supervision.
 Strong communication skills both written and oral at all levels with clients, staff and
others.
 Ability to work within a team and independently of administrative assistance.
