The Healing Journey Youth Forum What is it? A one-day event being held at Ka-Na-Chi-Hih (1700 Dease St.) on Friday, November 25th which is the International Day for the Elimination of Gender Based Violence. The forum has been organized and facilitated by the NAADMAAGEWIN Aboriginal Domestic Violence Committee. The event is open to youth 13+ and those that attend will be encouraged to take part in the day’s activities. Healthy snacks will be served in the morning and a hot meal at lunch will be provided. Youth who take part will also have a chance to win prizes and take resources home with them. Transportation will be provided to and from their home schools. A male and female Elder will also be in attendance to provide support to youth throughout the day. What’s it all about? Youth are invited to take part in The Healing Journey Youth Forum as we recognize the vital role that youth play in preventing violence in our community. By attending youth, will have the opportunity to connect, learn and share. The day will focus on traditional teachings and the importance of fostering healthy relationships among Aboriginal youth. The Committee’s vision is to reclaim our traditional and rightful place in the Sacred Circle of Life, by promoting ownership, accountability and selfdetermination in keeping with our teachings, values and roles as Aboriginal women, men, and youth within our families and communities. The registration deadline is November 16th. Being in a violent relationship is not just a problem for adults.
