Equipment 1) Going Green game board (small desk version or large floor version) 2) Question cards (easy = green, hard = red) 3) Obstacle cards (blue) 4) Counters (the children act as counters on the large version of the game) 5) Dice Activity Outline The Going Green game can be played to complement a theory based lesson to ensure the children understand the science around climate change and how to reduce human impact on the environment. Ideally the game should be played in groups of no more than six (or four on the large version). The game lasts around 20 minutes depending on the number of children playing. Your resource pack only provides three small games (more are available to loan or purchase upon request). How to Play • • • • • Take it in turns to roll the dice and move around the board, each player has one roll per turn. For every square a player lands on, they must read out the information or follow the instructions given. If a player lands on a question square (marked Q) then another player must ask them the question from the cards provided. The questioner checks if the players answer is correct using the answers given on the card. Once the question is answered correctly or incorrectly the player’s turn is complete and does not move again until next turn. When a player reaches the flooded road obstacle they must answer an obstacle question card correctly before continuing through the game. The winner is the person who gets to the centre first, or let every player continue to the end if time allows. 1 Discussion Points What did the children learn from playing the game?
