WASTE AND RECYCLING STRATEGIC CONSIDERATIONS CHECKLIST ONE: TAKING STOCK When reviewing the current state and formalising your approach to transition, the first step is to take stock of the current strategic considerations for each of the merging councils and the impact on Waste Management Governance. Activity What Starting Point for Discussion Do you have a current Waste Strategy for your Council? - Is there mention of the State and Regional Waste Strategy and contributing to the municipal waste diversion from landfill targets? What overall systems do you have in place for data capture to meet State/Federal Government reporting systems? Reporting will be required for the Local Government Waste and Resource Recovery Survey and potentially facility specific reporting such as National Pollution Inventory. What internal resources are used for waste management activities as well as by other service delivery units? For example is the council depot used to service all fleet ?
