Congratulations! You have been accepted to the University of
Michigan for your fifth grade year. For two years, we have proudly welcomed new Wolverines to our program,
and we are thrilled to have you for the upcoming 2017-18 school year. My name is Professor Fitzsimmons, but
you can call me Mr. Fitz if you would like. You may be wondering why a Michigan logo is represented in this
letter. Here at EDUPRIZE, each classroom represents a college or university. We are the University of
Michigan, and here is where you have the opportunity to receive various degrees. As a prospective Wolverine,
it might help to do some research about this university over the summer. What year was this college founded?
Who is the head football coach? What degrees are this decorated university known for? Where is the
University of Michigan located?
To further prepare you for your success at the University of Michigan, our Open House date is scheduled
for Monday, July 24th at 1:00 p.m., where you will get a chance to get acclimated with the classroom, learn
line up information, and drop off your supplies. If this does not work for you, I will be in the classroom from
8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. To avoid traffic congestion in the parking lot, try to stick to the
time above. You can find your new classroom upstairs in Building 2, Room 72. Your carpool assignment and
other important information will also be available at this time in the gym of Building 2. Also, please show up
with $10 for a planner and a subscription for Scholastic News. The payment can be made by cash or check
made out to EDUPRIZE. I am thrilled to have you on the Wolverine team! Go Blue!
We are Village 2, which means we are in session from 8:10 a.m.-3:10 p.m., Monday through Thursday,
and 8:10 a.m.-11:50 a.m. every Friday. All students must be on time and present on the first full day of school
to be considered enrolled at EDUPRIZE. The first day of school is Wednesday, July 26th, 2017.
There are four courses your child will be enrolled in at the University of Michigan. We like to call them
Cottages, and they are as follows:
Quarter 1: Astronomy 101 (Planetarium)
Quarter 2: Anatomy 201 (Body Shop)
Quarter 3: Introduction to Physics 301 (Physics Foundry)
Quarter 4: History of Industrial Thinkers 401 (Invention Convention)
If you have questions, or you would like to contact me this summer, you can reach me at
[email protected]. Another great resource that can answer questions and concerns is
the school website, www.eduprizeschools.net. It also contains calendars, schedules, and any changes to the
schedule you need to check frequently to know about! Finally, there are Open House forms that need to be
filled out online and printed before coming to Open House. You will need to bring the forms with you to turn
into Professor Fitz. You can access these forms on the website.
I cannot wait to see you and get this upcoming year started! There is so much to learn, and if you come
focused and prepared, we will accomplish a lot!
See you soon, and go Blue!
