Write or type your story of no more than 500 words on one of the following: • a topic of your choice, or • ‘Only in NZ’ – a story about an iconic NZ event or person • a story set in your school. We must receive your entry at St Heliers Library or at St Heliers Westpac by 4.30pm, Friday 07 July 2017. All winners will be notified by Thursday 24 August. If you have not won we will not notify you. Stories will be judged on originality, use of language, story construction and characterisation. Note that year 7 and year 8 entries will be judged separately. Entry into this competition constitutes acceptance of the following terms and conditions: 1. To be eligible to win you must be a student enrolled in year 7 or 8 who resides in or attends school in the Ōrākei Local Board area. 2. There are three main cash prizes for each age group (six prizes in all) of $150, $100 and $50 for first second and third places respectively. Prizes won by children under 13 years of age must be deposited into a Westpac junior account. If the winner does not have a Westpac junior account, one will need to be opened in his/her name by a parent/guardian in order for them to receive their cash prize(s). Cash prizes by children over 13 years of age must be paid into a Westpac account nominated by his/her parent/guardian. 3. There are six runners-up for each age group (12 in all) of one $35 book voucher. The book voucher is subject to its own terms and conditions. Please refer to the book voucher for full details of use. 4. Entries must be received by 4.30pm on Friday 7 July 2017. Entries received after this time will not be accepted. Entries can be submitted to the entry boxes at St Heliers Library and at Westpac St Heliers or sent to: Win With Words, St Heliers Library, 32 St Heliers Bay Road 1071. 5. All entries must be submitted with an official entry form available from St Heliers Library or Westpac St Heliers. 6. Entries must be original and have only one author. Entries must not be copied or reworded from another story. 7. Stories must be no longer than 500 words. 8. Stories must be written in English or Māori. 9. Stories must be submitted in a format consistent with the guidelines. Please include your name on each page of your story. Do not include any other personal details on the story printout. 10. You may enter more than one story but each story must have an official entry form with it. 11. Entries will not be returned. Entrants should keep a copy of their work for their own records. 12. Stories will be judged on originality, use of language, story construction and characterisation. 13. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. 14. All winners will be notified by Thursday 24 August 2017. 15. Unsuccessful entrants will not be contacted. 16. Winners must be prepared to accept their prize(s) at a ceremony on Thursday 31 August 2017. 17. The prize sponsor is Westpac St Heliers, 389 Tamaki Drive, St Heliers, 1071. 18. The prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and the book vouchers are not redeemable for cash. 19.
