In April 2012, the Governor signed legislation for the immediate creation of Florida Polytechnic University and the closure of USF Polytechnic. I have coordinated with the University of South Florida System in the design of a teach out plan for existing students, reassignment of faculty and staff, as well as the transfer of all assets to Florida Polytechnic University. As of July 1, 2012, the position of Regional Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs & Research no longer exists, thus I have been reassigned to the College of Business at the University of South Florida in Tampa.
