A MESSAGE FROM THE IJRL PRESIDENT
In recent times as I have visited a lot of venues each weekend I have personally
witnessed sideline behavior which disturbs me and should be upsetting for you. The
Recruitment 24/7 Ipswich Junior Rugby League prides itself on upholding the best
standards of behavior from our coaching staff and players. This is well policed by
club officials (typically in high-viz duty official vests) and match officials (the
referee and sideline officials).
You may not be aware that the Recruitment 24/7 Ipswich Junior Rugby League has a
disciplinary process whereby individuals including spectators, water runners, coaches
and all other participants at a venue can be charged under the NRL Code of Conduct
and asked to explain their behavior before a disciplinary panel. This is a daunting
experience for everyone involved and harsh penalties are handed out including
complete expulsion from our game. In other words, never being able to again watch
your child play rugby league no matter how many excuses you come up with for your
behavior. I have attached a link below to the Code of Conduct. Let me assure you
this code will continue to be enforced. A series of 12 month and 2 year bans have
been handed out this year already.
I have a duty as Chairman to ensure the Recruitment 24/7 Ipswich Junior Rugby
League competitions remain safe, enjoyable and fun for everyone involved. My
committee and I do not take that responsibility lightly. We will see you around the
grounds and we will continue to work hard to rub out this type of behavior for our
children.
Cheers
Terry McGarrigal
IJRL President

A great game played by the Under 6 Whites against Rosewood on the Weekend. These little Bears
Levi, Jack, Tyler, Micha, Tion, CJ, Darcy, Malachi, Jason and TJ are becoming quite the Footy
Team.
With great Tackles by all the Bears with Malachi, Micha and Levi leading the way and good support
by Jack, TJ, Tion, CJ, Jason, Darcy and Tyler at the Back.
With excellent Defence comes Great Attack and these Bears have it in style. All members of the
Under 6 Whites love to run and with impressive Hit-Ups by Levi, Darcy, Micha, Tion, Malachi and
Jason leading the way supported well by Jack, Tyler, CJ and TJ. this lead to some beautiful Tries
by Malachi, Tyler, Levi, Jack, Micha and CJ today.
Well Done Bears, Keep up the Good Work.
Nathan, Rhiannon and Anne-Marie.
Fantastic game. Very proud of our U6 Blue and the awesome display of team work.
We would like to welcome Jacob Griffiths to the team who was also presented with
our coach’s encouragement award for getting stuck into the game and putting in his
best effort. Player of the match was Drayton Plummer for his overall performance.
Thank you Matt Eather for providing fruits and drinks for our team.
Thank you again to all the parents and families that come to the games every week.
Even though the morning was cold and rainy the U7 Red Bears played amazing! Each
player did a great job of tackling, good runs and try's. The team is learning
something new every week and are having a lot of fun at the same time.
Another great game this Saturday. We played against swifts, tries scored by Riley and Christian
many try saving tackles by Jac Jac, Chayse and Tino. Great defense by the rest of the team also.
Players of the match went to Baylee and Jac Jac, who both had awesome games.
Parents please remember if you have any issues regarding the team please contact me and Jake so
we can solve them.
I would like to also say a huge thank you to Tegan (Holly's Mum) and Sonja (Myles Mum)for their
help at the BBQ on Sunday and to Baylee’s family, Shannon and Paul (under 6's red), Chris and
Cheryl ( under 8's blue) for coming and supporting the team by purchasing a snag on bread, and to
Chris (Riley’s Dad) for the donation, as every little bit helps for a great break up party to end a
great season.
This week our boys played Goodna Black at our home ground, They provided an extremely tough
game for our boys with Goodna getting the victory, there were a lot of tough tackles made by both
sides and the wet conditions didn't help with a number of errors made, in saying that the boys will
be better for the run, playing a tough side in tough conditions is certainly character building and
they will learn from the experience,
Tries were scored by Mahonri, he also kicked a conversion and also Charles scored a try,
Calum once again improved, he is learning that running hard and fast makes it very hard for the
opposition to tackle him, well done Cal, Keiren once again was all effort and didn't stop trying,
Tyler, Trystan & Tungane also never stopped trying, Trystan's line speed in defence was
outstanding, Jesse again ran hard and tackled hard,
Mark-Anthony again showed strength and effort in his tackling and running well done.
Player of the match awards went to Mark Anthony and Charles, well done boys.
Also Happy Birthday to Tyreece's dad Matt & Trystan's dad Heath who both had birthdays this
week.
We have another fundraising BBQ this Sunday at Woolworths Collingwood Park, if you can come
down and support the team that would be appreciated, also if you can help at all feel free to do so.
It was an early game on a chilly, breezy and wet day at Lowood but this didn't stop
our Bears from running onto the field and giving it their best effort. They were
raring to go from last week's disappointment so they put that behind them and did a
360 turnaround on their game to secure a win against Lowood. It was teamwork
galore on the field both in their defence and offence. They also smashed it with
their individual tackles and as a team as well. Heinrich, Joseph S & Vili scored tries.
While there were almost clear breakthroughs from Josiah, Lesayne, Ogden & Matiu
with Carter, Joseph Y & Montoya right behind them in support when needed.
Coaches' encouragement award went to Ogden who worked on his improvements.
Player of the Match went to Josiah for an all around awesome game. Well done
boys, well done team!!
Thank you Leota-Salafai family for being on jersey duty this week.
Our boys took to the field on Saturday at against Norths Tigers ,
Although the conditions were wet, this did not deter our boys from showing Norths what us bears
are made of. Defeating Norths 50-6.
At training the past couple of weeks we have been focused on game fitness and strength for our
forwards and back line play for our backs, and today our boys put this into practice on the field ,
Awesome work boys , unfortunately I can't congratulate one individual player as every player,
played awesome today, so a big pat on the back boys ,
I would also like to thank Jakoda's pop (Michael Ah Sam) for shouting the team hot dogs and
drinks thanks heaps champ
What a wet game it was this weekend gone. Our game against brothers maroon was a messy one. By
the end of the game our boys were covered in mud. We put up a good fight yet again. Another
game where our boys continued to show us their great sportsmanship. A huge thankyou to Tristan,
Mahonri and Tungane who stepped up from the under 8s and played back to back games to give us a
full team. We appreciate it boys.
The wet weather certainly didn't put a damper on the boys efforts on Saturday against Norths
Gold. All boys played to the best of their ability and coach was super proud to see game plans
learnt in training sessions being played out on the field as intended. Well done to the boys who
came away with a 26-6 win against Norths Gold. Congratulations to Jamus Ruben and Sam Lythgoe
for being awarded players of the day! Keep up the good work boys! Pizza night as promised on
Monday and last training of the term this Thursday where the winner of our Footy Doubles Raffle
Tickets will be rewarded with their $400 cash prize! See you all then!
This week saw us travel out to Lowood for a late game against Brothers. Another
impressive win with the end score 44-0. Once again great defence work with no
points scored against us for the 3 week in a row. Some great plays but we need to
work as a team more and the plays will work better. Thanks to Dion, Donna, DJ,
Mike, Sinbad, Jed, Dennis, Korbyn and their parents for their help at the team BBQ
at Masters. Our next game is at home on Friday 8.15pm against Norths Blue let's
hope we might have a bit of a challenge against them.
On Friday night the Under 15 team headed to Esk for a 7 o’clock game against
Fassifern/Brisbane Valley. The team made a great start and was ahead 24 to nil at
half time. The team continued to pass the ball and tackle well in the second half and
came away with a 42 to 6 win at the end of the game. Tries were scored by Wilson,
Billy, Cailum, Harvest, Codey and Wyatt with conversions by Codey and Hepiri. The
team is working together well and with fresh players being interchanged regularly,
they are able to keep up the momentum against the opposition. Achieving a few
recent wins under their belts has lead to a renewed confidence and determination
from the boys
