Many thanks for your continued support Mrs Deirdre Graffin Principal Congratulations & Celebrations Fantastic achievement for our ladies footballers who were crowned South Derry Champions once more. New Row lifted the Sharon Donnelly Trophy last year and were delighted to take it home again to Castledawson. The final against St Brigid’s Mayogall was hard-fought but our girls’ grit, determination and skill won through – as well as Mr McIver’s excellent management. We entered two teams and the support from the rest of the girls was amazing! Our New Row Runners programme organised by Mrs McElroy has proven to be a great way to keep fit and active together, as well as achieving personal goals. The last track session will be this Wednesday. Congratulations to everyone who ran in Loup 5K on Saturday, especially Nadine Lagan who came 1st, Karen (3rd) & Philip Loughlin who was 1st over-40 past the post. Well done to everyone for taking part – now keep running! New Row BOOKATHON Monday 26th June - Leaving School at 1pm Only one week to go to our New Row BOOKATHON! We will walk to the Hillhead and back. Any parent or family member who is free is very welcome to join us and all helping hands would be much appreciated. Bookathon sponsor forms: All families should have their sponsor forms now so please help by getting as many sponsors as possible. In every class, all returned forms will be entered into a draw, as well as a prize for most sponsorship. This is our last fundraiser of the year and it is a great afternoon for a great cause. Online Safety Update Week 3: How did you get on with keeping screens out of bedrooms at night time? Not always easy, but worthwhile. Our message for Week 3: Set filters on You Tube (Advice found on parentinfo.org) YouTube is incredibly popular with children of all ages. YouTube Restricted Mode enables you to choose whether to limit content on YouTube that might not be against YouTube Community Guidelines but even so may be unsuitable for your children. When you opt into YouTube Restricted Mode, mature content and age-restricted videos won't show up in search, related videos, playlists, shows and movies. Here's how to do it: 1. Go to the bottom of any page on YouTube. There, alongside the YouTube logo and some other boxes, is the Restricted Mode box (this was formerly called Safety Mode.) 2. Click so that Restricted Mode now reads ‘on’ and click ‘Save’. If you turn it on and you have a YouTube account, you can sign in to your account and lock Restricted Mode so that no one else can change the settings whenever YouTube is accessed from that browser. Don’t forget: To lock Restricted Mode, you need to have a You Tube or Google account. You need to be 13 to have a YouTube account. Spend some time watching YouTube with your children and check out what they like. Pay particular attention to what is shown in the related video menu when your children search for their favourite videos.
