The Stinger® 12-Gauge, 68-Caliber Rubber Ball Rounds incorporate a translucent
shell loaded with the choice of one (1), two (2) or three (3) rubber balls. The Stinger®
12-Gauge Rounds utilize smokeless powder as the propellant.
The Stinger® 12-Gauge, 68-Caliber Rubber Ball Rounds are most widely used as a
crowd management tool by Law Enforcement and Corrections in crowd control
situations against single, non-compliant subjects. The Stinger® 12-Gauge 68-Caliber
Rounds are generally considered a low to medium pain compliance round for close
range deployment.
The Stinger® 12-Gauge, 68-Caliber Rubber Ball Rounds are intended to be direct or
skip-fired at the discretion of the operator, but it is necessary to keep the trajectory low
so the projectiles will not engage the subject above the breast line. When used in
either manner, the operator should be adequately trained in the use of less lethal
impact munitions and have a thorough understanding of the round and considerations
for selecting shot placement such as level of threat, target distance, size, and clothing.
As a pain compliance round for crowd routing, they are most suitable at close to
moderate ranges of fire, with a minimum range of 21 feet. These rounds provide a
solution for the non-aggressive, but non-compliant crowd prior to the use of more
dynamic munitions.
The Stinger® 12-Gauge, 68-Caliber Rubber Ball Rounds are NOT suited as a
dynamic, high-energy, single subject round for the purposes of incapacitation.
