Euromediterranean Cultures and Tourism - E.M.C.T.

MISSION
Our research institutions aim to produce broad perspectives on and understanding of
the international touristic scene and its relationship with culture. Within the
framework of the “CMU-OMU Label” Study Programme - collaboration between the
Ondokuz Mayis University (OMU) and the Community of Mediterranean
Universities (CMU)/Unesco Unitwin Chair - it has been decided to implement the
Master on “Euromediterranean Cultures and Tourism (E.M.C.T.)” entitled to Prof.
Cosimo Notarstefano.
The purpose of this cooperation is:
to deliver the Study Programme concerned with the H.E. courses in the
Mediterranean Basin;
to promote the mobility of students and teachers;
to create a multicultural learning and teaching environment and to enhance the
intercultural dialogue;
to strengthen the basis for future cooperation within the project concerning
“Higher education and research programme on sustainable development in the
Mediterranean region” under the auspices of UNESCO and UNAI;
to collaborate in implementing the UNESCO-Unitwin Mediterranean Chairs
Network;
- to uphold the freedom of science and, therefore, to contribute to peace.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The EMCT Master’s Degree (Euromediterranean Cultures and Tourism) aims to:
1. overcome boundaries and differences, as well as to develop capacity building
for mutual understanding among Euro-Mediterranean countries;

2. to create an academic partnership of higher education and research institutions
by developing a network of specialized study programmes among EuroMediterranean universities.
International comparability will be ensured with respect to credits, courses, as well
as scientific and professional qualifications. As for the fields of study, special
emphasis will be given to topics related to the Euro-Mediterranean region.
The Master is suitable for people with different backgrounds and needs. Since it
intends to adopt the mechanism of training the trainers it is devoted to young postgraduate students with no working experience, specialists in related disciplines who
wish to integrate their scientific knowledge and specialization as well as employees,
managers and officers of public and private touristic structures, of Tourism Ministries
and professional associations.
Therefore, the Master provides a wide didactic offer, with a complete course of 60
ECTS and characterized by the following main subjects: Culture & Languages,
Tourism Law EU Policy, Heritage, ICT Quality Management in Tourism
Communication and International Relations.
The Course will be organized in lectures, laboratories, seminars, self-learning and elearning activities, stages and thesis and will be carried out by the Professors of the
Faculty.
QUALIFICATION AWARDED
Students that successfully complete the program are awarded with a diploma in
“Euromediterranean Cultures and Tourism (E.M.C.T.)”
LEVEL OF QUALIFICATION
First Cycle in Tourism, Social Sciences, Cultural Studies, Language Teaching, Law
and Economics
Number of candidates to be admitted is: 15-25
SPECIFIC ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The language for instruction in the Master Programmes is English.
The candidates have to state, in submitting the admission, their knowledge of
English, if necessary certifying it. In case no satisfactory certification of English
proficiency is provided, an on-line proficiency test will be administered by OMU. If
the candidates have got a degree in any of the above mentioned foreign languages, no
language test is necessary.
The candidates could enclose whatever they deem necessary to describe their
curriculum.

YDS: 60
TOEFL: 100 – 120
IELTS: 7.5 - 9
In case no satisfactory certification of English proficiency is provided, an online
proficiency test will be administered by the School of Foreign Languages at Ondokuz
Mayis University (OMU). The required language proficiency test is 60. If the
candidates have got a degree in English, no language test is necessary.
METHOD AND DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS
Applications for participation in the competition for admission, must be written on
form (ANNEX 1), downloaded on the website www.cmungo.org, sent through email ([email protected]), by mail to Comunità delle Università Mediterranee,
Via Celso Ulpiani 27, 70126 Bari (Italy) within the deadline of 15th November
2015.
The Administration assumes no responsibility for loss of communications and / or
enrollment forms due to mistakes in delivery.
CANDIDATES’ SELECTION
The Selection Committee for admission to the Master is appointed by the Institutions
promoting the Master.

The fee is fixed at € 3.500,00

The sum of Euro 54,00 as contribution for the selection (not refundable for any
reason), is payable to CMU/OMU bank details according to the above mentioned
citizenship.
OCCUPATIONAL PROFILES OF GRADUATES
The EMCT Master’s Degree aims to provide students with the necessary knowledge
to take decisions related to the management of tourism and culture & heritage
activities in the Mediterranean area.
DIPLOMA
The international master's diploma is awarded to students who:
 have successfully attended at least 80% of the whole amount of frontal
teaching activities and passed all e-learning modules;
 have successfully achieved all module assessments;
 have completed the stage/work placement period;
 have successfully passed the final examination after thesis discussion.
Examinations are made in dates, places and times determined and announced by the
Faculty.
