INTRODUCTION
(For Teachers)
THE SCHOOL-TO-WORK DRAWING CONTEST
What do you enjoy most? Do you like to ride a horse? How about playing
games or reading a book? All of us can think of fun things we love to do.
It is possible for you to get a job or even a career doing something that you
like. If you like animals, you could be a veterinarian, work in a zoo, be a horse
trainer, a farmer, or a biologist. If you like games, you could help create new
games or manage a sports facility. If you like books, you could write your own
books, be a librarian, or work at a newspaper.
You can do just about anything. It is never too early to start thinking about
your career. The most important thing for you to do NOW is to start thinking of
the things you like to do. Exploring careers is fun. Planning your education
NOW will make it easier for you to become what you would like to be.
WAIT A MINUTE!!
How can you decide what you like to do? How can you learn about all these
different careers? The answers can be found in a program in Hopkins County
Schools. It is called SCHOOL-TO-WORK. It will help you discover what your
interests are.
SCHOOL-TO-WORK will help you explore new and exciting careers. It will
guide you in your quest for your career education. From kindergarten through
high school, you will learn about careers. You will hear people talk about the
jobs that interest you. Field trips will allow you to watch and talk to people as
they do their jobs. You will play games and take part in other fun activities.
The next few school years will be the most exciting of your life. SCHOOL-TOWORK will help you find out about interesting careers.
Are you ready to get started? O.K.! Now is the time to begin preparing for
your future. The Hopkins County SCHOOL-TO-WORK office is sponsoring a
drawing contest. Let’s talk about it!
The theme is “What I Want to Be.” There will be a winning drawing in each
school. The winning person will be recognized on Awards Day and receive a
Certificate of Achievement. The district-wide winner will receive a $50 savings
bond provided by First United Bank.
