All Items To Report
1. UGSC have examined and approved the proposal for a joint degree with
History. Ongoing questions raised by UGSC (on responsibility for PTs for
example) are taking place above department level. Latest proposal doc is
uploaded.
2. UGSC resolved to remind all module convenors that they should hold at least
one meeting per term of all tutors teaching on the module.
3. UGSC resolved to remind all colleagues of our DM agreement not to make
notes on PT meetings, even for personal mnemonic purposes – we merely note
that the meeting has taken place.
4. UGSC invites colleagues to make further comments on the Draft Absence
Protocol document from last DM – noting that extending the functionality of
Tabula does not answer questions of pastoral care or communication between
ourselves or with our students, and that these issues remain.
5. UGSC noted (as part of the preamble to a likely much wider discussion of
teaching loads, PGT teaching, and distributing students across modules) that a
serious resolution in a previous DM to limit seminar sizes to 15 had not in fact
taken effect.

. AUSC has discussed likely changes to the way First Years are dealt with in their
noughth and first weeks on campus. Before last AUSC the attached document on
‘Warwick Welcome Week’ was circulated to UGSC. This document is worth a look
because of its implications on our activities in these weeks (and the second-most
popular option involves an extension of teaching by one week beyond our
current Week 10).
. Following an AQSC recommendation passing through AUSC, it seems likely that
departments will in future be asked to provide feedback on exams at individual
and/ or cohort-level. It is likely that we will be asked for some statistical details
on marks, which perhaps taking the form of three-year averages rather than oneyear – though AUSC have recognised the dangers of mark inflation since students
will be led to rational choices based on likely scores. The current document is
uploaded for reference.
