AQUATICS PROGRAM 2017 SUMMER BROCHURE Page 7 Online registration: www.eminnetonka.com/register (952) 939-8203 Monday – Friday Hours 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Michele Gerstner, Aquatics & Adaptive Recreation Program Manager, [email protected] 952.939.8323 Swim Lessons The goal of the aquatics program is for the student to continually make progress with each class. Each class is structured to build on the skills learned in the previous class. A student who does not possess the minimum skills required for the class enrolled will hinder the progress of the other students as well as his or her own, and will not be allowed to continue. To ensure your child has the best swim lesson experience through our aquatics program, we periodically review and make adjustments to the program to best accommodate students of all levels. Younger children are encouraged to repeat a class for more than one session. Instructors will strive to challenge the child throughout the lessons. Locker Room Policy at West and North Jr. High: To protect the privacy of our participants, children 5 years of age and older may not enter the locker room of the opposite sex. Please plan accordingly when registering for swim lessons and use discretion when bringing younger children of the opposite sex into the locker room. Pool Temperature at West!: Please be aware that the water temperature at West Junior High is cooler than at Williston Fitness Center. A snug-fitting swim shirt is highly recommended. If your child does well with fewer distractions, West would be a good choice. Swim Policy: Parents may only register a student(s) for one swim class per session. Advancement to the next level is contingent upon the instructor’s recommendation. Additionally, online registrations are closely monitored on a daily basis to ensure adherence to this policy. Waiting Lists: Please request to be placed on a specific waitlist when your desired aquatic class fills. Staff will contact you as openings occur due to cancellations, or when new classes are added. Transfer Fee: If your child has been registered in an incorrect level and you wish to transfer to a different level, there is an additional $35 fee charged to transfer provided there are still spots available. Avoid transfer fees by attending one of our FREE level assessments so our staff can place your child at their correct level. Level Assessment — Unsure of your child’s swimming skill? Register for a free 5-minute assessment and let our swim instructors determine the appropriate swim level for your child in our program. Pre-registration is required for assessments held at the Williston Fitness Center pool. Please have your child in a swimming suit and ready to go on the pool deck at their designated time. Recommended for children who have not had swim lessons for more than 3 months. Swim instructors are available to evaluate and recommend the appropriate level for your child by appointment on the dates and times listed below. Please call (952) 939-8203 to register or visit www.eminnetonka.com/register.
