The learning environment has changed and e2020 has responded by creating a course designed with the online student in mind. The course covers important study skills topics such as time management, note taking, online learning environment skills, and strategies for remembering key information. Within the course, students receive real-world activities to further enhance learning, while utilizing newly learned skills and strategies in the e2020 learning environment. This class is a two-part course, one part for each nine-week period. I will be grading all subjective material for the class. The computer will be grading the tests and quizzes. I am here to help you with anything within this course. Please feel free to contact me through the e2020 email system, the phone extension given on the Welcome Letter or make an appointment to see me during the day. Listed below are a few items I believe will help you achieve higher scores in your cyber class: NOTES Take notes during the lecture. These notes will help you understand the information and help you define the vocabulary words. Use them for reference any time while you are completing a writing assignment. JOURNAL ENTRIES Use your notes to write the answers applying the vocabulary words used in the lectures. Write out the answers in complete sentences using correct punctuation and grammar. Fully explain your answer. Do not assume I know what your thoughts are. If the journal asks three questions, then three answers are expected; otherwise, it will be marked as an incomplete answer. Show me you fully understand the material! If your graded answer is less that 100%, remember to check the comment section in order to better understand my expectations. If the journal asks you to write about an experience from your own life and you do not have one; it is acceptable to give an example from a friend or relative. Do not just say, "I've never experienced it." Finally, it is plagiarism to cut and paste and it will not be an acceptable answer. It is very easy to identify cut and pasted work. HOMEWORK Use your notes for answering the subjective short answer questions. Whenever possible, use the vocabulary words. The computer will assign a higher score based on the use of content vocabulary in your answer. TIME It is recommended that you put an effort of 2.5 - 3 hours per week for each course if it is being taken during the school year. If taken over the summer, the expectations are higher. Every student sets up their schedule to suit their own needs. Some "chunk" their work while others spend time on each class every day. I will be watching your time and if you fall behind, I will be contacting your parents. Do not forget, you can also work ahead. Your concentrated, hard work will pay off! GRADING Your grade will consist of: * Journal activities * Practice/Homework * Quizzes * Online content * Topic tests The three areas of content that I grade are journals, homework and online content. They make-up 30% of your total grade. Work hard, use your notes and contact me. Be as successful as you can be! 5031 SV Strategies for Academic Success Part 1 (Mrs. Andres) Understanding Motivation Vocabulary Direct Instruction - Running Time: 12 min 51 sec Online Content Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Evaluating My Study Habits Vocabulary Direct Instruction - Running Time: 9 min 5 sec Online Content Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Understanding My Learning Style Vocabulary Direct Instruction - Running Time: 17 min 50 sec Online Content online content activities Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Taking Proactive Steps to Succeed Vocabulary Direct Instruction Online Content Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Setting Academic Goals Vocabulary - Running Time: 17 min 39 sec Direct Instruction - Running Time: 17 min 11 sec Online Content Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Topic Test Topic Review Activity Answers Topic Test Answers Your Online Learning Experience Preparing for Online Learning Vocabulary Direct Instruction - Running Time: 14 min 16 sec Online Content Journal Online Content Practice Answers Quiz Answers Using the Internet Responsibly Vocabulary Direct Instruction - Running Time: 13 min 11 sec Online Content Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Academic Integrity on the Internet Vocabulary Direct Instruction - Running Time: 10 min 50 sec Online Content Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Topic Test Topic Review Activity Answers Topic Test Answers Taking High Quality Notes Note Taking 101 Vocabulary Direct Instruction Online Content Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Note Taking 101-Part 2 - Running Time: 14 min 52 sec Direct Instruction Online Content Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Notes From a Lecture Vocabulary - Running Time: 7 min 56 sec Direct Instruction Online Content Journal Practice Answers - Running Time: 12 min 26 sec Quiz Answers Notes From a Text Vocabulary Direct Instruction - Running Time: 12 min 16 sec Online Content Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Compare and Contrast Graphic Organizers Vocabulary Direct Instruction Online Content Journal Practice Answers - Running Time: 8 min 6 sec Quiz Answers Cause and Effect Graphic Organizers Vocabulary Direct Instruction - Running Time: 10 min 49 sec Online Content Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Topic Test Topic Review Activity Answers Topic Test Answers Memorization Techniques Remembering Through Repetition Vocabulary Direct Instruction Online Content Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Using Acronyms Vocabulary - Running Time: 9 min 51 sec Direct Instruction Online Content Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Rhyming and Keywords Vocabulary - Running Time: 9 min 10 sec Direct Instruction - Running Time: 6 min 8 sec Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Visualization and Categorization Vocabulary Direct Instruction - Running Time: 13 min 55 sec Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Topic Test Topic Review Activity Answers Topic Test Answers 5 Steps to Test Preparation Step 1 - Determine What to Study Vocabulary Direct Instruction Online Content Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Step 2 - Organize Notes Vocabulary - Running Time: 14 min 39 sec Direct Instruction - Running Time: 12 min 59 sec Online Content Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Step 3 - Compile Study Materials Direct Instruction - Running Time: 17 min 45 sec Online Content Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Step 4 - Apply Memorization Techniques Vocabulary Direct Instruction - Running Time: 11 min 11 sec Online Content Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Step 5 - The Day of the Test Vocabulary Direct Instruction - Running Time: 12 min 42 sec Online Content Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Topic Test Topic Review Activity Answers Topic Test Answers Test Taking Strategies Testing Tactics Direct Instruction Online Content Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Best Answer Tests Vocabulary - Running Time: 11 min 49 sec Direct Instruction Online Content Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Response Tests - Running Time: 18 min 3 sec Direct Instruction Online Content Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Open Book Tests Vocabulary - Running Time: 11 min 42 sec Direct Instruction - Running Time: 15 min 46 sec Online Content Journal Practice Answers Quiz Answers Topic Test Topic Review Activity Answers Topic Test Answers Cumulative Exam Cumulative Exam Review Answers
