BJFC Principles We believe in player rotation both off and on the field to ensure every players are given every chance to not only participate, but experience different positions over the course of a season. 4 week blocks – back – centre - forward We strongly believe winning isn't everything at this level, but recognise competition is healthy for player development and team morale We recognise the need to maintain a safe environment for the players BJFC Principles We promote a positive, friendly, vibrant image and strongly support the concept of team work both on and off the field. We encourage and welcome parent and supporter involvement at both team and club level YJFL parents acknowledge team work & players of both sides All teams shake hand at end of game – 3 cheers for winning team and umpire Usual to acknowledge best player from opposition (home game) and award medal Team song is in Clubrooms NOT on field BJFC strategy Develop linkages with local schools – foster football – purpose of Ambassadors Support Auskick Provide transition from Auskick to Tackers (U9) Provide senior pathway to NOBSPC Stages of training Fundamentals (6-9years) – Learn all the fundamental movement skills and build overall motor skills (i.e. BJFC Tackers & U11 ) Unstructured play - Quality instruction Positive and fun -Minimal formal competition Basic skills - Kick, mark and handball ABC’s – agility, balance, coordination (and speed) Tactical skills – defense and attack - Read the movements – make decisions - Team work and problem solving Sense of what is fair Introduce simple rules and ethics of sport Stages of training Learning to Train (9-12 years) Learn overall sports skills (i.e. U11-U12 BJFC) Accelerated learning of coordination and fine motor control Enjoy practicing skills – see own improvement Competition focus on “learning to compete – not winning” Long term results – Practice to competition ratio = 70%/30% Players and coaches need to understand; Flexibility – Speed - Strength – Body weight Endurance through games and relays Technical skills Set goals and visualization Stages of training Train to Train (12-16 years) – Consolidate basic sports specific skills and tactics (i.e. U13-Colts BJFC) Play to win and do their best Focus on skill training and physical development over competition Practice to competition ratio 60%/40% Players and coaches need to understand; Aerobic training - Skill, speed, strength, core work Flexibility – growth of bones, muscles, tendon, ligaments Train in daily in competitive situation – practice matches, competitive games/drills Strategy YJFL issues 2012 – Issues discussed revolved around parents and official involvement in games. – The trigger point was that parents were complaining about runners, water carriers and trainers on the ground for too long – this is then leading to dissension and complaints, arguments etc. – Coaches, Team Managers need to remind others that runners are limited to 2 messages per run – trainers are only there for attend injury and water carriers (allowed for the first time this year) are only on the ground at between goals, stoppages. – Observation from YJFL is that these officials are being on the ground ALL at the same time, some almost being a 19th man. YJFL issues 2012 This was also observed during a recent Tackers game where 7 officials were on the ground. Tackers Coaches are to run behind the play 20-30 metres off the ball NOT in play. Boundary/ Goal Umpires – are officials and not a spectator and cannot barrack, instruct players. Officials cannot touch opposition players. Officials, Coaches cannot approach Umpire only Team Manager or Captain. Umpire Escorts are to ensure that they actually escort umpires from the ground as this is not occurring at all matches. YJFL issues 2012 Officials, although it is hard to ensure all bases are covered, make sure that if a person is doing for this first time they understand what they have to do – don’t leave them floundering – Team Manager should ensure adequate instructions are given to less experienced. Coaches have to sign form with YJFL that they have read the Rules Game Day - If there is an issue then ensure Team Manager talks to Team Manager. Players – hate shouting/barracking abuse from crowds
