Welcome to the Dundee Dolphins Swim Team
For the 2017 Spring/Summer Season!
We are a year ‘round team home to both recreational and competitive swimmers from ages 6-18 that offers a
program for all levels of swimmers. Our philosophy is to teach and refine the 4 competitive strokes, moving the
swimmers forward with their progress helping them advance towards their goals. We are a USA Swimming/ISI
affiliated team.
Our Mission Statement is: To be committed to provide a positive environment, to challenge and develop our members
to become exceptional young citizens, athletes, and swimmers; To create and maintain an enjoyable and productive
swimming environment; To allow and assist every member to reach his or her desired level of swimming within their
commitment; To recognize each member and value his or her role in the success of our team; To encourage family
participation; To encourage positive mental attitude and mutual respect.
DIVISIONS
Swimmers are grouped by age levels - 8&U, 9-10, 11-12, 13+. Swimmers should register for the age group they will be
at the end of the season – Friday July 21st. We do make some exceptions based on experience, etc. to give the
swimmer the best experience possible (ie: a new swimmer turns 11 during the season, but swims 10&U to develop
strokes, etc).
New swimmers must be evaluated by our Head Coach prior to registration. Swimmers will be guided into the program
by our qualified coaching staff. The Dundee Township Park District’s all encompassing SWIM program starts with our
Learn-To-Swim program, moves to the Junior Dolphins Pre-Swim Team, and finally to the four age groups of the
Dundee Dolphins.

REGISTRATION & FEES CONTINUED…
ISI FEES: Individual ISI\USA swimmer registration is required for all swimmers on the Dundee Dolphins. Swimmers
should be registered as DUND (see page 5 for more information regarding ISI Registration Policy). To ensure a smooth
registration process, registration forms will be given to new swimmers with a deadline of May 12th. All forms will be
collected by the coaching staff then be mailed to Illinois Swimming, Inc. Swimmers joining later in the season are
asked to please visit http://www.ilswim.org/index.html to print out forms and self register.
ESCROW FEE: Upon the registration, we require a minimum $50 escrow account be set up for your family. This
account is where we will pull funds to pay for your swimmer’s meet entry fees, etc.
 When you sign your swimmer(s) up to compete at a meet, you agree to pay for their entry fees even if your
swimmer ends up not swimming. Once the team is accepted to attend the invitational, all monies that have
been paid to the host team are not refundable.
 A rolling balance of $50 will need to be maintained throughout the season. If the account reaches $25, the
swimmers under your account will be listed as “suspended.” This means you will be unable to
register/compete in future meets until the appropriate funds have been added to your account. At that time,
the swimmers account will be switched back to “Active”. Please note: The swimmer still will be able to
participate in assigned practices while listed as “suspended” for financial reasons.
 At the end of the season, you will have the option to roll over any remaining balance to the next season, or a
refund can be issued. Your balance will be available for you to view/check for accuracy on our team website.
SWIM MEETS
GENERAL INFORMATION:
 Both home and away meets will be held providing opportunities to swim in both long and short course
sanctioned meets, including: Dual, Tri, Invitational, Conference, and any other qualifying level Championship
meets. There will be approximately 2 meets/month.
 Program includes Regionals, Senior Championship & Age Group Champs. Zone Meets, Sectionals, etc. will be
additional cost for qualifying swimmers.
 All transportation, lodging, etc. is each Swimmers family’s individual responsibility.
 Swimmers are expected to be at the meet on time for warm ups and before positive check in closes.
Swimmers who show up after positive check in closes without notifying the head coach will not be able to
swim the meet per USA Swimming rules.
 Swimmers should see the coaching staff immediately after their race for feedback. Parents should encourage
their children to do this as well.
 Relays: Some of the meets we attend will offer relay events. The coaching staff will determine the line up
based on a swimmer’s time, performance in practice and ability to be a team player.
o Relay fees are split between all 4 swimmers participating. If a relay team is scratched due to a
participant not showing up or scratching, that swimmer shall incur ALL fees for the relay. The other
swimmers will be reimbursed for the scratched relay. Every attempt will be made by our coaches to fill
that relay spot but due to a number of factors, it may not be possible.
o If you do not want to have your swimmer participate in relay events, you must inform the Head Coach
prior to the close of registration of that particular meet.
 Parent Participation: Some meets that we attend require parent volunteers from visiting teams to serve as
timers or officials (if certified). As soon as the Head Coach is informed that timers are needed, a job board on
the event page will be created to allow parents to volunteer. Once the determined deadline has passed, the
Head Coach will assign parents to time and inform them via email. It is the responsibility of the parent to find
another volunteer if unavailable.

HOME MEETS
THE 2017 SPRING I-SQUAD MEET – FRIDAY MAY 12th

friendly competition and also a chance for us to check all equipment before the Pentathlon!
 Warm ups will start at 5:30pm; Meet start at 6:00pm. This is a positive check in meet. Positive check in will
close at 5:35pm.
 Swimmers will be asked to choose which events they want to swim (up to 3 events).
 All swimmers will swim the Dundee Dolphins Relay which will be the last event of the night.
 All parents are expected to volunteer as this meet will be solely run by Dundee Dolphins.
6th ANNUAL DUNDEE DOLPHINS PENTATHLON – SATURDAY JUNE 3rd
 The Dundee Dolphins will be hosting an Invitational “The Pentathlon” on Saturday June 3rd. ALL SWIMMERS
REGISTERED FOR THE SPRING/SUMMER SEASON OR SPRING ONLY ARE REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE.
 The meet will consist of a morning session expected to begin at approximately 9:00AM with warm ups starting
around 7:30am.
 In order to make this a success and run smoothly, each family will be expected to volunteer regardless if your
child is swimming in the meet.
 If you are not able to attend the meet, you may have someone work for you in your place. This person must
be approved by the Meet Director at least 2 weeks prior to the meet.
 In the event you choose not to volunteer your time, you will be charged $100 per session so that a paid Park
District employee can cover your spot. This fee will also be assessed if you do not show for your agreed upon
obligation.
 We need your help, not your money! Please help make this event a success for our swimmers! Further details
will follow as we approach the date. Home meets require complete parent support in order to be successful!
Additional Meets
 There is the potential that the Dundee Dolphins may host additional dual/tri meets throughout the season.
These will be set up by the coaching staff and communicated to parents and swimmers as soon as scheduled.
 Any home meet requires complete parent support in order to be successful.
ISI REGISTRATION
Individual ISI\USA swimmer registration is required for all swimmers on the Dundee Dolphins. Swimmers should be
registered as DUND (Illinois Swimming Club Code). New Swimmer ISI Registration is due May 12th.
If a swimmer is transferring from a different team, they will be required to update their ISI Registration within 7 days
of attending practice. If the ISI Registration has not been changed in 7 days, then the swimmer will not be allowed to
practice until their ISI Registration has been updated to DUND.
If at any point during the season a swimmer’s registration changes to a different team, they will not be allowed to
continue practicing with the Dundee Dolphins. The refund policy will stand in effect as well.

UNATTACHED SWIMMING
You are welcome to swim “unattached” at a meet the Dundee Dolphins are NOT competing at.
 All registration procedures/fees are the responsibility of the parent. A Dundee Dolphins coach is not expected
to attend a meet which your child is swimming unattached.
 Swimmers swimming unattached are not allowed to wear anything that may be considered Dundee Dolphin
Apparel since they are representing themselves and not the team at these meets.
 Following the completion of the meet, please email your swimmer’s final times to the Head Coach. Please
include the name of the Meet, Event, and the date the event was swum. The coach will do her best to update
the times but this may not always be feasible.
 The Team may get into a Meet that wasn’t originally on the schedule with little advance notice. If you are
already registered for that meet as unattached, every attempt will be made by the Head Coach to switch you
from un-attached (UN-IL) to Dundee (DUND). If the swimmer cannot be switched back to the Dolphins all
penalties stated below will be waived. Communication is important. Near the end of the season, this becomes
even more so because deadlines come very quickly for the Championship Meets.
Swimming unattached at a meet the Dundee Dolphins are competing in is strictly prohibited. Any swimmer who is
found to have swum unattached at a meet the Dolphins are competing at will incur the following penalties:
 The swimmer will not be allowed to practice with the Dundee Dolphins effective immediately for the rest of
the current season and no refund will be issued.
 Illinois Swimming will be contacted to change the swimmers registration from the Dundee Dolphins (DUND) to
unattached (UN-IL).
ALACARTE
We will offer a team store to purchase all apparel items in the beginning of the season. Goggles, practice suits/caps
and equipment can be purchased through any vendor.
 Team Shirt – Should be worn at meets/team functions. RED Shirt required for all swimmers for team pictures.
 DD Team Caps – mandatory for meets. Can be ordered with or without last name.
 Suits – There is a team suit offered, but not required. Swimmers should have a black suit or red patterned
swim suit for meets. You will see swimmers wearing FAST Skins at meets. If this is a purchase you are
interested in making, please talk to the Coaching staff so we can advise you accordingly as these suits and
their effectiveness only last a few races.
 Practice Equipment (such as fins, paddles, etc.)
 Team Pictures – Date TBA (Swimmers must wear the RED Dundee Dolphins shirt)
 Socials (additional to the banquet)
PARENTS




There will be a “New Parent Orientation Meeting” on Tuesday April 11th from 5:30-7:30pm to go over this
packet and the team website.
The success of our program is dependent on parent involvement. We ask for volunteers to serve on various
committees (team activity, banquet, Pentathlon, etc.) to help with the creativity, efficiency and enjoyment of
these activities. Please email Coach Amie if interested.
Parents are expected to lead by example and follow an Ethical Code of Conduct. Any concerns from coaches,
swimmers and parents will be discussed with the Aquatics Supervisor. If an ongoing issue occurs, other
consequences will be evaluated. All members of the Dundee Dolphins should be respectful and encouraging of
other teammates and coaches.
The Parent Understanding document will need your signature prior to joining the Dundee Dolphins swim
team, and shows your agreement with the aforementioned requirements/costs listed here, and your
agreement to abide by it.
