GAME VARIATION 1: This game variation randomizes participation, ensuring all students are thinking through the questions, since they do not know beforehand if they will be selected to respond and represent their team. This game variation works best with larger groups. 1. Game host will divide group into four teams and drop the names of each participant into a hat. 2. Game host or a student volunteer will select a question from the game board to read. 3. After question has been read, game host will play the timer music while participants confer with their teams to determine the correct response. Remind participants that in Jeopardy, answers are in the form of a “What is” question. 4. Game host will then draw a name from a hat to select the student to respond to the question. The team that student represents will earn the amount from the game board if student responds correctly. To simplify scorekeeping, do not subtract dollar amounts for incorrect answers. 5. Repeat process for remainder of game. GAME VARIATION 2: This game variation works best with small groups and allows students to take turns to respond to questions. 1. Game host will divide group into four teams. 2. A student from each team will take turns selecting a question from the game board to respond to. 3. After question has been read, game host will play the timer music while participant determines the answer. Remind participant that in Jeopardy, answers are in the form of a “What is” question. 4. The team that student represents will earn the amount from the game board if student responds correctly. To simplify scorekeeping, do not subtract dollar amounts for incorrect answers. 5. Repeat process for remainder of game. Activity Sequence INTRODUCTION/HOOK Tell students that they have been selected to be participating in a Financial Literacy Jeopardy Game.
