PRIORITY 1
To develop an inspirational culture that engages and motivates students to obtain high levels of progress
OBJECTIVES:
a) To enhance data collection and tracking systems at both key
stages.
b) To establish a pattern of regular departmental PRIM (Progress,
Review, Intervention meetings) following data collection points at
subject level to track student progress.
c) To establish A2L (Attitude to Learning) meetings to ensure
tutors and Achievement Managers have an holistic view of an
individual students progress.
d) To promote student lead literacy activities during tutor time and
house competitions.
e) To embed targeted strategies to improve reading and literacy in
the teaching of all subjects.
f) To promote a ‘success culture’ throughout the school, including
making success visible
g) To develop a range of strategies to enhance student motivation
in Year 11.
h) To develop a 2 week summer activity programme to enhance
transition from KS2 for pupil premium students
i) To monitor and intervene with personalised strategies to ‘close
the gap’ on achievement with vulnerable groups.
OUTCOMES:
a) Quicker access to accurate assessment data enable
intervention strategies to be used more quickly and
ensures students continue to make progress
b) Progress of all cohorts, groups and individuals are
meticulously tracked with appropriate action taken to
ensure progress for all
c) Achievement managers and tutors can provide support
and challenge to those in their house/tutor group
d) Students develop leadership skills and a desire to
support each other independent learning and achievement
e) A literacy culture is enjoyed and enhances progress in all
subjects
f) All members of the school community embrace the ethos
of ‘being the best they can be’
g) Outcomes for 2014 cohort are on target
h) Students on the PP register establish themselves rapidly
within a new learning environment preventing ‘dips’ in
achievement
i) All groups of students make at least expected levels of
progress.
PRIORITY 2
To eliminate any variations so that all teaching is consistently good or outstanding
OBJECTIVES
a) To ensure staff are confident in making judgements on
the quality of a lesson and know what ‘good’ looks like
b) To strengthen the cycle of lesson observations and to
include opportunities for peer observations
c) To promote a consistent culture of marking and
feedback so that it is embedded within all subject areas
d) To promote a culture of sharing good practice, high
expectations between all departments
e) To ensure that teachers have a range of differentiation
strategies to challenge all students
f) To embed the use of appropriate new technologies
within the learning environment
g) To strengthen the use of homework, quality and
quantity, for all groups of learners
h) To embed numeracy strategies into teaching within all
departments
OUTCOMES
a) 80% consistently good or better teaching, with no inadequate
b) Teacher and departments have clearly identified areas for
improvement and have a range of strategies to promote
continuous improvement
c) Students engage in a learning dialogue and are confident in
knowing how to improve and achieve the next level
d) Students are interested and engaged, and learn well within a
positive learning environment
e) Differentiation strategies result in good progress being made for
all groups of learners
f) All subject areas are confident in the use of new technologies to
enhance learning opportunities for all abilities
g) Homework makes a positive contribution to the progress of all
groups of students, demonstrated through book trawls
h) A consistent approach to numeracy if evident through lesson
observations, throughout the school.

To enhance behavioural skills of all, leading to consistent and disciplined learning
OBJECTIVES
a) To modify behavioural management procedures to
promote a culture of behaviour for learning
b) To promote the importance of good attendance
and punctuality
c) To re-establish the credits and merits system
and strengthen the links with parents/carers
d) To enhance the processes for swift and easy
recording of behaviour/bullying information on
the MIS system
OUTCOMES
a) Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own
behaviour and demonstrate a positive attitude
b) Students understand that good attendance plays an important role
in learning and progress
c) Students are encouraged to take an increasing responsibility for
their own learning
d) Data is used effectively to design personalised intervention
strategies which promote positive attitudes to learning
PRIORITY 4
To promote inspirational and accountable leaders resulting in a sustainable capacity to improve
OBJECTIVES
a) To review the curriculum structure for 2014, in light of
cohort variations and national, regional and local needs
b) Governors develop their own development plan following
a self evaluation based on the quality standards
c) To enhance performance management procedures for all
staff
d) To strengthen leadership skills at all levels to ensure a
sustainable capacity to improve
e) To develop a mentoring and coaching culture to sustain
continuous improvement
f) To strengthen transition links with primary feeder
schools
OUTCOMES
a) The curriculum enables all groups of students to engage in the
learning process and make good progress
b) Governors have high expectations of themselves and the school,
promoting continuous improvement
c) All staff are held to account for their own professional development
d) Leaders at all levels understand the contribution that self-evaluation
and development makes to sustainable whole school improvement
e) All staff are supported to be at least ‘good’ in whatever role they
have within school
f) Sustained progress, particularly in the core subjects
