MEN’S AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP
July 14-16, 2017
Rules and Regulations
ELIGIBILITY
Entries are open to all male amateur
golfers. There are no handicap index
eligibility requirements. The field will be
limited to 144 players.
Age: A player is asked to list his age and
date of birth on all entry forms. In addition
to listing their ages, all players who are
minors in the state they reside (e.g. under
the age of 18 for Michigan) must also list
a parent/guardian with the appropriate
contact information. The parent/guardian
must also sign the submitted application.
Amateur: All players must conform to the
USGA Rules of Amateur Status as specified
in “The Rules of Golf.”
FORMAT/SCHEDULE
Competition will be 54 holes of stroke play.
All competitors shall play from the Men’s
Championship teeing grounds.
Friday, July 14, 2017
18 holes of stroke play.
Sunday, July 15, 2017
18 holes of stroke play.
Scores from 36 holes will determine
flights and starting times for final round.
Sunday, July 16, 2017
18 holes of stroke play for 54 hole total.
Cumulative scores will determine the 2017
Men’s Champion and Flight winners. Any
tie for Champion, Runner-up, Third Place
will be decided immediately by a sudden
death playoff. Flight ties will be decided by
a scorecard playoff.
PRIZES
Awards and/or gift certificates will be
awarded to the Champion, Runner-up,
Third Place, Flight Winners, and Flight
Runner-up. Also, prizes will be awarded
for individual hole contests. All prizes will
conform to USGA Rules of Amateur Status.
Awards will be presented following the
completion of tournament play.
PRACTICE ROUND
All participants get one free 18-hole
practice round with their entry. This
practice round can be redeemed anytime
throughout the month of July. Please
contact the course for available tee times
and notify us that you will be utilizing your
free practice round when scheduling your
tee time.
RULES OF GOLF
Play will be governed by the USGA “Rules
of Golf,” or Local Rules and Conditions so
provided prior to the start of competition
on each day of the Championship.
Questions will be settled by the Rules
Committee for the Championship, whose
decisions shall be final.
GOLF BALLS/DRIVE HEADS
Only brands of golf balls on the most
current USGA List of Conforming Golf
Balls and driver heads on the most current
USGA List of Conforming Driver Heads
may be used. These lists are updated and
may be found on the USGA website at
www.usga.org.
DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES
In this Championship, a player may obtain
distance information by using a device
that measures distance only and at his
own discretion share that information
with others in his group. Use of a device
designed to measure other conditions is
strictly prohibited.
CADDIES/TRANSPORTATION Competitors
may provide their own caddie for
championship rounds. Caddies are not
available at Leslie Park Golf Course.
Caddies are not permitted during practice
rounds. Competitors are permitted to
use motorized transportation during
championship rounds. There will be a limit
of two motorized carts per group. If all
players elect to ride, any caddies in group
may have to walk.
STARTING TIMES
Competitors must be at their assigned
tee and ready to begin play at the time
set by the committee. Competitors will be
responsible for verifying their own starting
time each day, either through the www.
a2golf.org web site or by calling the course
at 734.794.6245. The optional condition in
Appendix I of the “Rules of Golf” shall be in
effect. If a player arrives at their starting
hole ready to play within five minutes of
starting time, the penalty shall be two
strokes instead of disqualification.
TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
Information concerning pairings, starting
times, etc. will be posted online at www.
a2golf.org approximately 48 hours prior
to the tournament. Please remember, it is
the player’s responsibility to contact Leslie
Park Golf Course to verify tee times. Sorry,
no emails with tee times will be sent out.
REFUND POLICY
Refunds will be granted according to the
schedule below. The Tournament Director
reserves the right to grant exceptions to
the stated policy in situations including, but
not limited to injury, illness, and death in the
family.
