SAT Math (ACT Math) MAT Alg1 Math 1325 Analytic Geometry None SAT Math (ACT Math) MAT Alg1 Notes: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Action To be taken MAT stands for the Math Aptitude Test. The test is available online at http://distance.uta.edu/MAT/. There are 3 components of the test: Algebra (Alg) – determines enrollment in Math 1301, 1302, 1303, 1308, 1315, 1322, 1324, and 1325 Precalculus (Precal) – determines enrollment in Math 1323 and 1426 Trigonometry (Trig) – determines enrollment in Math 1426 Math 1301, 1302, 1303, 1308 and 1315 all require the same MAT Alg test score. So it is assumed that a student who has earned credit for any one of them is prepared for the others. However, a student can earn credit for ONLY ONE of Math 1301, 1302 or 1315 as these are all basic algebra courses. The MAT may be taken 3 times. Additional attempts will be given only in unusual circumstances; students should contact Dr. Krueger in the Math Department. Students with SAT (or ACT) Math section scores greater than or equal to 600 (26) are not required by the Math Department to take the MAT. However, the College of Engineering requires all its majors to take the MAT regardless of SAT (ACT) scores. SAT (ACT) Math section scores can be viewed in MyMav under Student Admissions>Academic Test Summary. Equivalent THEA exams that are TSI approved at UT Arlington include: Accuplacer, Compass, and Asset. Refer to the TSI website for equivalent cut scores: http://www.uta.edu/admissions/successinitiative/.
