EHS Baseball Booster Club Meeting Minutes:
May 9, 2016 at 7:00 PM (Emmaus High School, Rm 357)
Members Present: Gayle Cichocki, Karen Schichtl, Dawn Lynch, Linda Gery, Suzanne Mazzella, Rob Mazzella,
Allison Moxey, Melisa Shaner, Staci Foley and Bill Capwell
Secretary Report (Linda Gery):
April meeting minutes were posted on the website. Motion to accept by Rob, seconded by Suzanne. Minutes
approved.
Treasurer’s Report (Dawn Lynch):
We are in very good shape with our budget. Dawn reviewed income and expenses – current balance of bank
account (end of April) is $16,463.75.
 Almost all income items have been turned in for the year and many have exceeded our budget
expectations: Clothing Sales- $710.35 (not even meant as a fundraiser so this was surprising and
unexpected!); Letter Campaign-$6,690 with $500 still to come in; Snack Stand and Food Card Sales not
even included in the budget and doing well.
 A few more expenses yet to go out including Banquet and Coaches Stipends.
Web Coordinator Report (Karen Schichtl):
Karen encouraged all families to continue to add/upload their photos to the website-click on the link to
Shutterfly. She has been taking pictures at most JV games and has several of each player. Gayle will check
with varsity families to make sure we have adequate shots of all players for the Banquet slideshow and
collages. She will provide Karen with a flash drive for better quality images.
Old Business
 Jenny Leader, game announcer – we will present her with $200 cash ($20/game)
 Letter Campaign (Chris Kish) – Checks are still coming in and we have exceeded budget. Thank you
letters will be provided to players at the Banquet and a list will be included in the program.
 Apparel Order (Karen Schichtl) – Thoughts for next year? Karen will shop around for possible vendors
and would love suggestions, Schuylkill Valley Sports did come through for us to complete this year’s
orders. Will strongly consider buying extras to sell at the snack stand and offer as giveaways or gifts.
There seems to be an interest in hats and t-shirts. We can try with first offering at the Golf tournament
in the fall, can sell for winter lifting as well. New players and families are always interested at the
beginning of each season.
 Weis/Giant’s Cards – Suzanne said that profit is a little over $1,600. 1 more large Weis order to come
in, then she suggests rolling over to next year since profit is not realized until actual cards are sold. We
need a new volunteer in about a month – Gayle will check with Judy Marushak to see if she may be
interested. So far we have about 55% participation from the 40 families. Gayle is trying to get
response to see how we can get all to participate and alleviate other, less desirable fundraisers.
Possible suggestions include: monthly prize drawing with those who have made purchases; have JV and
Varsity contacts introduced at ‘Meet the Player’; make a purchase amount mandatory for next year.
 Youth Day – needs more planning for next year, hope to have a coordinator. The weather was a factor
this year but those who attended seemed to have a good time.

Sponsor Appreciation Night – Not all sponsors were able to attend, but ‘thank you’ gift (signed ball in a
case) will be presented to all at premier level. Next year we will include the borough as well. Binder
Automotive has been great and showed up with an additional incentive – they were handing out tshirts for all email sign-ups and will donate $1 per photo submitted wearing the shirt (by 5/31)!
New Business
 Varsity Double Header - $125 spent on food, for in between games
 Miracle League (Dawn Lynch & Karen Schichtl) – The game we had planned to help with was rained
out. $2,377.16 was collected from the lifting event and Dawn will take it over, Coach Mihalik will send
in the additional money raised through the website.
 Special Event Games
o Senior Night – 5/10 (Allison Moxey & Liz Lanzone) – Pizza, drinks and cake will be provided.
Andy is making posters. The team will sign a ball for each of the seniors. Seniors and their
families will be asked to arrive early for pictures. Coach will send out a message to JV inviting
them to attend, after their game.
o Mentor Night/Pediatric Cancer Club – 5/12 (Maureen Cope) – Trainer, Liz, will help coordinate
with the Pediatric Cancer Club at EHS. Baked goods and raffle fundraiser.
 Hype for Playoffs – We are brainstorming how to decorate houses for all players, can include posters,
streamers, etc. Gayle will get all Varsity addresses and we can possibly break into groups to decorate.
Allison and Andy offered to print signs for all of the players’ lockers at school.
 Banquet (Rob & Suzanne Mazzella) – So far only 19 players have sent RSVP and Friday is the deadline.
Suzanne will send out another group email reminder. Planning is going well – some additions for this
year include: recognition of scholar athlete and coach adding 2 new JV awards (hitting & pitching). The
Varsity gift bags will also have a copy of game at Coca-Cola Park.
 Senior Scholarship (Judy Marushak)– “Spirit of the Game” will have the same requirements as previous
years, it was agreed that no changes be made at this time. All interested seniors will need to turn their
complete essays and Judy (and a small panel of volunteers) will review them anonymously to select a
winner, which will be announced at the Banquet.
 Elections (Rob Mazzella) – No one else so has expressed interest and all current officers have agreed to
continue in their positions next year. Rob made a motion to re-elect Gayle Cichocki (President), Andy
Moxey (Vice President), Dawn Lynch (Treasurer), Linda Gery (Secretary) and Karen Schichtl (Web
Coordinator), seconded by Allison. All in favor.
 Committee Chairs – Gayle will contact all committee chairs to submit event planning info with
timetable, contacts and any other pertinent info. She plans to create a notebook that will help future
volunteers in planning Booster events. Karen suggested she make a form of all the information needed.
 Golf Tournament – Date set for 9/18/16 at Wedgewood Golf Course. More details to follow.
Coaches Report (Mike Mihalik):
 Coach not present, nothing to report at this time.
Next meeting: June 6, 2016 at EHS Rm 357 (brief meeting at school – then we can travel to Pickles or a
location TBD to celebrate the end of the season)
