Data hygiene for better reports and searches June 2016 Goals Why to map What to map When to map it How to map it Why do we map? Helps you understand the data path Where was it entered? How can I pull it into reports? Helps you build more efficient workflows You’ve noticed a trend you can’t explain Maintain data quality Why do we map? I thought I did this already?! You did… but the data (or reporting needs) are constantly changing: Labs Medications Workflow and documentation processes System upgrades CPT codes UDS measures What to map? Labs Medications CPT and other codes Procedures Problems Visit types Immunizations Allergies Custom mapping educations, goals, and other profile items When to map it? Before each monthly quality report run: Labs Medications When you add a new visit type or procedure that relates to an existing report or measure: CPT codes Procedures Visit types When a new measure is announced All the data that are relevant (you won’t always know, but you can start) How to map labs: Where should I map labs?
