Last updated 01/11/2016 Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Economics 2017 Dual Program Structure It is important that you read and understand the following information. To be eligible to enrol in a dual degree program you must ensure that you satisfy the entry requirements for both programs. Once enrolled it is your responsibility to ensure that you complete all the requirements for each section of this dual program in order to graduate with both degrees. The following information is designed to help you plan your enrolment to meet this goal. Further information can be found in the Official rules and Course lists under the Program Rules and Requirements link for each program in the Programs and Courses website: http://www.uq.edu.au/study/ You may have to swap courses in the plan to allow you to finish with your desired major/s - please check prerequisites and semester offerings on Courses and Programs. You are not required to submit this program plan for approval. However, if you have any questions or concerns about meeting degree requirements, especially when you are nearing the end of your program, please contact the BEL Faculty for advice. Please note: Students exiting early with one component of a dual degree must complete the single degree requirements of that component. Students will then be required to follow the single degree rules to complete the remaining component from that dual degree and maximum credit rules will apply. PROGRAM GUIDELINES You must complete a total of 72 units for the program comprising 20 units of compulsory courses from Group 1 of the BCom List (not including ECON1010 & ECON1310); and 12 units for either – o one major in Group 2 of the BCom List (6 units must be at level 3); or o elective courses from Group 3 of the BCom List (6 units must be at level 3, and only 2 units may be at level 1); and 16 units of compulsory courses from Group 1 of the BEcon List (not including ACCT1101 & ECON1020); and 6 units from Group 2 of the BEcon List; and 8 units from Group 3 of the BEcon List; and 4 units of elective courses from Groups 2 or 3 of the BEcon List; and 6 units of general elective courses from the BCom List or the BEcon List or from almost any other undergraduate program in the University as approved by the Executive Dean. Note: You may only include a maximum of 6 units of Level 1 courses towards the program (excluding Group 1 courses). Courses can only count towards one program (not both): Students may not count ECON2300 towards the Finance major, as it is a compulsory course for the BEcon. Students cannot count FINM2401 towards the International Trade & Finance major, as it is a compulsory BCom course. Students wishing to complete a BEcon major will need to complete an approved combination of 14 units from the BEcon List for the relevant major (of which 6 units must be level 3 courses) which also meet the BEcon Group 2, 3 and elective program requirements.
