Welcome
Victorian Road Racing Championship
Round 2 – Winton Raceway
6 & 7 May 2017
The Preston Motorcycle Club in conjunction with Motorcycling Victoria are proud to be up and running for
Round 2 of the Victorian Road Race Championships 2017. We are very excited to host the four round series, at
the major tracks in Victoria and look forward to seeing our states finest, competing for the prestigious state title.
We welcome all competitors, spectators and supporters to Winton Raceway. The VRRC Championship is glad
to include Winton in its 2017 series.
Our main sponsors will be CYKEL, Pirelli, Motul and this year we welcome Husqvarna to the fold, as well as
our usual sponsors including Axle Armor Track Sliders, Race Center, Pablo's Tyres, Ashburton Service Centre,
Victorian Motorcycle Wreckers and Ricondi Australia. We will also have the support of Race Marshals
Victoria in control of the racing, rain hail or shine and Computime to ensure everything runs safely and
smoothly.
This year will see the traditional Harvey Wiltshire and Hughie Hoare feature races for the Superbike and
Supersport classes respectively as endurance races at the Phillip Island round and they will have special trophies
and prize money as well as counting toward the VRRC Championship.
The format will include two Qualifying sessions and a race on the Saturday and a warm up and two races on the
Sunday for most classes except Bears and any class that is combined with the Bears, which will have one
qualifying and two races on the Saturday and a warm up and two races on the Sunday. The series will run in the
same format as the ASBK currently uses.
VRRC 2017 will be hosting the OZBears for 3 rounds like this year, hence the need for the Bears class to have a
different format to conform with their series, it will however also be a VRRC 4 round series.
Riders who use Pirelli tyres will be eligible for entry into the two random draw prize giveaways and selected
classes have contingency prizes available for riders using Pirelli tyres. Trophies will be awarded for the first 3
place getters in each class at every round including B and C grade for Superbike, Supersport and Supermoto.
Trophies and prize money will be presented to the first 3 place getters in the Harvey Wiltshire and Hughie
Hoare feature races at the conclusion of the weekend. Competitors are eligible for the contingency prizes, if
running Pirelli tyres and stickering;
Superbikes: At each round. First outright – 1 set of Pirelli tyres. Second outright – 1 rear Pirelli tyre. Third
outright – 1 front Pirelli tyre. Both B and C grade 1st $250 Cykel dollars 2nd $150 Cykel dollars, 3rd $75 Cykel
dollars
Supersport: At each round. First outright – 1 set of Pirelli tyres. Second outright – 1 rear Pirelli tyre. Third
outright – 1 front Pirelli tyre. Both B and C grade 1st $250 Cykel dollars 2nd $150 Cykel dollars 3rd $75 Cykel
dollars
Random Draw: 2 riders will be drawn randomly at each round, from competitors who have used Pirelli tyres at
that round. Each prize will be one pair of Pirelli tyres.
We wish all competitors a fantastic season, and hope you all enjoy the series.

ATTENTION ALL HISTORIC BIKE RACERS!
Looking for more opportunities to race your historic bike? Well you cannot go past
the Preston MCC Bracket Racing Series.
Bracket racing does not put bikes into classes but riders in to time brackets
regardless of the bike they are racing. Finally some close action on the track!
Preston Motorcycle Club
THE HOME OF BRACKET RACING
Bracket Racing is a form of racing where competitors are grouped into brackets
according to their lap times and not by the class of bike they are riding, this
provides the following advantages:
 Exciting and enjoyable racing as you will be racing with other competitors
who have very similar lap times.
 Low cost, as you can use whatever bike you have available, be it a classic,
modern or anywhere in-between, and there is no need to spend extra money
to make it competitive in a class.
The format is ideal for both new and current racers alike, with its friendly and low
stress atmosphere allowing competitors to develop their confidence and skills
without feeling like they have been thrown into the deep end.
Join us at Broadford for
Round 2 - 21st May 2017 and Round 3 - 8th October 2017.

BRACKET RACING 2017
18 & 19 Feb
Round 1 Report
Wow! What a weekend it was at Broadford State Motorcycle Sports Complex; road race circuit for the opening
round of The Preston Motorcycle Club 2017 Bracket Racing Series. The event organisers, MV officials and
volunteer marshals from Race Marshals Victoria were full of praise for all after a brilliant weekend of super
close racing in all fields and the format of the newly introduced bracket racing series in Victoria.
The advanced racing group, riding at in the 1 minute and under range set a pace that matches those riding at
the top state level and gave us a great show, while in the same event, there were riders who were busy
prepping and converting their road bikes and taking to the grid for their first ever race. Some were coming back
after a bit of time off from riding, and were looking for a cruisy event to get comfortable racing again. Lap times
don’t matter so much, it is all about getting out there and experiencing racing. The Supermoto machines joined
in for the weekend, and had a bit of a chance to play on the mixed road/dirt circuit in both wet and dry
conditions. It was a weekend for all.
As with the introductory round held in 2016, the most encouraging part of the weekend for the PMCC Bracket
Racing 2017 hosts was the pathway that has been created for track day riders and racing enthusiasts to step
into our beloved sport. Bracket Racing has given people the opportunity to have a taste of racing, without a lot
of the pressure that comes with committing to a series, without any racing experience behind them. There is an
open track day the day before each of the four rounds, where coaching is provided for those wanting to get
their eye in, as well as getting some good advice before lining up on the grid.
It was great to see some of the regular attendees at the MV Girls Only Track Days take the plunge and mix it
up with the boys in the three qualifying sessions and five races. It is a lot of track time in a day, and those
ladies were surprising themselves, and the competition with the improvements they were making.
Results from the weekend, and for the 2017 Bracket Racing Series can be found at Computime Race Timing
Systems. For new racers, this is the official link to bragging rights ;)
http://www.computime.com.au/
The team at Preston Motorcycle Club can’t thank everyone enough for embracing the new format of bracket
racing, and bringing your ‘A Game’ for the weekend. We are extremely grateful for the support and proud to
have been able to get this gig off the ground. We hope it helps to give riders a chance to experience a
different type of racing as well as introduce those with their toes dangling on the edge of the pool into the world
of road racing.
The next round will be held at Broadford Motorcycle Sports Complex on 21 & 22 May. Registration for the
event is open. Details can be found at:
