Public transport to the University of Leeds BY TRAIN: Leeds Train Station links regularly to all major UK cities. You can get from the station to the campus on foot, by taxi or by bus. A taxi ride will take about 10 minutes and it will cost approximately £5. FROM TRAIN STATION BY BUS: We advise you to take bus number 1 which departs from Infirmary Street. The bus runs approximately every 10 minutes and the journey takes 10 minutes. You should get off the bus just outside the Parkinson Building. (There is also the £1 Leeds City Bus which takes you from the train station to the lower end of campus but the journey time is much longer.) FROM TRAIN STATION ON FOOT: The University campus is a 20 minute walk from the train station. The map below will help you find your way. Leave the station through the exit facing the main concourse. Turn left past the bus stops and walk down towards City Square. Keeping City Square on your left, walk straight up Park Row. At the top of the road turn right onto The Headrow, passing The Light shopping centre on your left. After The Light turn left onto Woodhouse Lane to continue uphill. Keep going, passing Morrisons, Leeds Beckett and the Dry Dock boat pub heading for the large white clock tower. This is the Parkinson building. BY COACH: If you arrive by coach you can catch bus numbers 6,28 or 97 to the University (Parkinson Building). There is also a taxi rank; a taxi will take about 10 minutes and cost approximately £5. Free car parking will be available at Woodhouse Moor Car Park on the following dates: 25 January, 1 February, 8 February, 15 February, 22 February, 1 March, 8 March, 15 March Please go to www.leedstravel.info and select ‘car parking’ for real-time car park information. Please be aware that popular city centre car parks may become full by midmorning so please check to avoid disappointment. Security staff will be on duty. Please note that this car park closes at 6pm Blue Badge holders can pre-book on-campus parking for £7 per day by contacting the school they are visiting. Please note that parking on campus is only available to permit holders and pre-booked visitors. Woodhouse Moor is 10 minutes walk from the main entrance to the University and up to 20 minutes walk from some departments. Please leave enough time to complete your journey. FROM THE NORTH via A1 Leave the A1 at the Ferrybridge services, to join the M62 westbound. Exit the M62 at junction 29 to join the M1 northbound. From the M1 follow signs for the M621 (Leeds City Centre) FROM THE SOUTH via M1 From the M1 follow signs for the M621 (Leeds City Centre) FROM THE EAST via M62 At junction 29 of the M62 turn onto the M1 north. From the M1 follow signs for the M621 (Leeds City Centre) FROM THE WEST via M62 Exit the M62 at junction 27 signposted Leeds M621 ➤ ➤ ➤ ➤ • Exit the M621 at junction 2, signposted A643 Wetherby (A58) (Please note: do not take junction 2A) • At the roundabout take the 3rd exit, signposted City Centre Wetherby A643 (A58) • After leaving the roundabout, stay in the middle or right hand lane following signs for City Centre A58 • After 1 mile, take the exit marked Skipton A660, Universities CAR PARKING ➤ Woodhouse Moor Car Park – LS6 2NA (selected dates only) • Stay in the left hand lane marked Skipton A660 • At the traffic lights bear left, then at the next traffic lights turn right onto Woodhouse Lane • Pass the University and the Parkinson Building with its large white tower • Go straight on; you will pass the Library Pub on the left after about 400m • About 200m after the Library Pub, turn right through the first gap in the dual carriageway into Rampart Road. You will see the car park from here • To get to the campus, walk back along Woodhouse Lane towards the Parkinson Building Woodhouse Lane Multi-Storey – LS2 3AX • Stay in right hand lane after exiting the A58M • At traffic lights follow the signs for ‘City’ (doubling back on yourself), then take the left hand lane (Car Park) • As the lane splits, stay in the car park lane on the right • Leave the car park on level 5 and turn right to walk up the road towards the white tower of the Parkinson Building Disabled Parking (Blue Badge Holders) – LS2 9JT • Stay in the left hand lane marked Skipton A660 • At the traffic lights bear left then at the next traffic lights turn right onto Woodhouse Lane • The entrance to the University is on the left after approximately 200m • Drive up to the barrier, show your Blue Badge and give your name and registration number to be admitted onto campus. Please note that parking on campus is only available to permit holders and pre-booked visitors. You will be provided with a code which you will need to enter into the payment machines in the multi-storey to enable you to pay on exit
