TIME What’s happening….
WELCOMING:
9:15 BUS
Garbage / Compost (G/C) and Group Leaders – meet bus, greetings, ask

teacher about medical behaviour concerns, discuss “Rules”, intro group
leaders, divide into 4 even numbered groups, each group leader lead group
to Nature Centre
AT NATURE CENTRE:
Give students name tags. Go into Nature Centre (Sun and Earth put bags in
front room, Water / Air in back room. Take seats on carpets.
BRAINSTORM/ SKETCH (B/S) INTRO:
Intro science / art , habitats, “rules”, air dry dance, what to expect, displays,
Ecology Song, depending on time - activity (could be outside after snack and
before Habitat Rotation if timing best
SNACK:
G/C intro recycling and compost and importance, where to put garbage etc.
Students eat snacks. Look at displays with group leaders etc. encouraging.
HABITAT ROTATION #1 (1 hr. 20min)
AIR - Art Garden
EARTH- Grasslands
SUN- Wetlands
WATER- Woodlands
B/S and G/C help set up lunch activities, ensure seed bags created, murals
ready etc. and then visit habitats and have lunch
LITTERLESS LUNCH (1/2 hour)
- Johnny Appleseed Song, G/C intro litterless lunch challenge
- Habitat Leaders have lunch
ACTIVITY CHOICE (1/2 hour)
B/S intro choices, ensure two people leading each, count numbers and
assure all students accounted for.
ACTIVE GAME – Predator / Prey in the forest
ARTS and CRAFTS – in Nature Centre
NATURE WALK – lead with binoculars and Id books etc.
-Group Leaders have lunch
HABITAT ROTATION #2 (1 hr. 20 min)
AIR - Grasslands
EARTH- Wetlands
SUN- Woodlands
WATER- Art Garden
B/S and G/C set up mural painting (tables, murals, paint, brushes, water), eat
lunch visit habitats.
HABITAT MURAL PAINTING:
At each table, group leaders and habitat leaders, students paint mural of the
habitat they just came from (little water, outlines previously drawn by habitat
leaders)
Game/ Activity/ Wrap up - Food Chain Game (B/ S)
OUTSIDE FOR 2:30 BUS DEPARTURE
Gather all belongings, thank students for coming, talk about coming
tomorrow, B/S and Group leaders walk students to bus. Others stay to start
clean up

ECO –FRIENDLY IDEAS – HOW TO HELP IMPROVE THE PLANET
Reminder of “rules”, air dry dance, what to expect, displays, BS - Bio mimicry
book and S - Design in Nature book - depending on time activity (could be
outside after snack and before Habitat Rotation)

B/S and G/C set up mural cut outs (tables, mural, cut-out animals, glue,
scizzors, markers), eat lunch visit habitats.
HABITAT MURAL ANIMAL ADD –ON AND PRESENTATION:
At each table, group leaders and habitat leaders, students choose animals to
go in each habitat, colour, glue, etc. and then each group present what they
learned at each habitat and what they did with their mural , closing
ceremonies, seed bag and Ecoarttist diploma, Litterless lunch awards,
thankyous, goodbyes, etc.
