Kicking Ability SCALES DESCRIPTORS 5 Rare Consistently kicks with accuracy over short and long distances and under pressure. Outstanding technician with great vision and awareness. Very good on non preferred side. 4 Excellent Kicking a real feature of her game, only occasionally makes a kicking error with preferred foot, normally under intense opposition pressure. Very capable on non preferred side, excellent decision maker. 3 Good Strong preferred foot kick, rarely misses short targets and is sound over distance, normally getting the ball to advantage. May struggle at times with opposition foot. Generally good decision maker. 2 Marginal Not completely sound with technique so struggles under moderate pressure. Lacks real penetration & precision with his disposal, and at times lacks vision and awareness. 1 Poor Has flaws in technique and struggles to get the ball to teammate advantage with any consistency. At times lacks vision and awareness. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS 2. Marking Ability SCALES DESCRIPTORS 5 Rare Outstanding overhead pack mark and in contests. Great low to the ground and out in front. One grab player. 4 Excellent Strong in the air, holding her position when competing and very consistent overhead. Plays in front, good one on one. One grab player. 3 Good Clean out in front and generally takes the mark she should when in position, has good judgement. Competitive overhead in a contested situation. 2 Marginal Occasionally misses uncontested marks, and not strong in a contested situation. Often two grabs or allows ball to fall behind. 1 Poor Does not have natural soft hands, dropping marks that should be taken. Tendency to drop the head and fumbles regularly. 2 KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS 3. Clean Hands DESCRIPTORS SCALES DESCRIPTORS 5 Rare Soft hands, doesn’t fumble, quickly moving ball into disposal position. Collects difficult balls off hands, in air and ground level, first grab in all conditions. 4 Excellent Nearly always in control, very effective with his ball handling, very occasionally double handles difficult balls in pressure situations or tough conditions. 3 Good Effective ball handler who is generally in control and maintains ball in front, with only the occasional fumble. 2 Marginal Inconsistent ball handler, at times struggles below the knees allowing the ball to get out of control and tends to overrun the ball. 1 Poor Struggles to get down and will regularly fumble the ball, even when in some space. Pace DESCRIPTORS SCALES DESCRIPTORS 5 Rare Outstanding reaction to play which maximizes his pace. Breaks up the game with his ability to take opposition on. Can apply tremendous defensive pressure. Nearly always the quickest player on the ground. 4 Excellent Reacts quicker than opponents. Usually one of the quickest players on the ground and uses it to influence the game 3 Good Rarely caught with the ball and can apply strong pressure, able to run down opponents for behind 2 Marginal Pace and reaction time questionable, have average pace in the game and does not have a leg speed influence with or without the ball. 1 Poor Is often caught. Makes 2nd and 3rd efforts with real consistency and aggression 3 Good Strong and contested ball with no real weaknesses in her level of aggressiveness, intensity or 2nd efforts 2 Marginal Lacks hardness, occasionally takes eyes off the ball or allows opponent to push past her. Her 2nd efforts missing at times.
