FAQ – How to Upload MP3 files to a Qualtrics questionnaire and add them
into a question and, optionally, set it to autoplay.
First step is to upload the mp3 into your Qualtrics library.
Edit your questionnaire/survey and select the ‘Library’ tab at the top ..
Next click the ‘Files Library’ button …
Then click the green ‘upload a New File button’ …
… and click the browse button
… then locate the file on your local PC and then click the Open button and wait while the file uploads.
Now let’s insert the MP3 file into your questionnaire.
Edit the question that you want to
associate the MP3 file with and click
the ‘Rich content Editor’ tab ..
Click the ‘insert video’ button (it works for mp3s
too

Click the ‘Select File From Library’ link and then select the file you want and click the INSERT button and wait
for the file to upload and then click the INSERT button
By default the participant will need to click the PLAY button to get the sound file
play, however if you want the mp3 file to automatically play when the Qualtrics
containing this question is loaded that is easy to do.
Edit the question and select the HTML view ..
Edit the question again and this time select HTL view..
Look for the text : autostart=false”
and edit it so that it says autostart=true”
And then click outside the text edit box to save the change.
You can test it by running your questionnaire in Preview mode.
