RECITAL INFORMATION
We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Years! It is hard to believe we are already starting
preparations for our 30th annual dance recital! The recital is a chance for dancers to perform on stage
for their family and friends. We encourage all dancers to participate but participation is not
mandatory. Dancers will learn a routine during their class time beginning in January and will practice
each week for the recital in June. Over the next few months, we will be sending more detailed
information regarding all things recital including: daddy/daughter dance, recital t-shirts, ticket sales,
picture day, dress rehearsal and performance day. Upcoming newsletters will be sent via EMAIL ONLY
as well as being posted in STUDIO INFO - DOWNLOADS section of our website
www.movesdance.com. There will be four more newsletters sent including more detailed information.

COSTUME MEASURING
Students will be measured for costumes the next couple of weeks beginning 1/16/17. We understand
children may grow between the time costumes are ordered and the recital in June so we do leave a
little extra room in our measurements.
Costumes are not custom sewn to each child’s exact measurements, however, we order costumes
based on your child’s measurements alongside the costume companies sizing charts to ensure a
close to perfect fit for their costume(s).
*Costume alterations are your responsibility when applicable.
COSTUME INVOICES & PAYMENT
In January, you will receive a costume invoice from [email protected] listing all of your child(ren)’s classes
and the designated costume fees. Please be sure to check your invoice to ensure that your child’s class(es)
is/are listed correctly. If your dancer will not be participating in recital, you will be asked to indicate this on your
invoice and return to the studio. Please note, a costume will not be ordered for your child if payment is not
received by the due date listed on your invoice. ALL COSTUME FEES WILL BE PROCESSED ON THE CREDIT CARD
YOU PROVIDED US ON YOUR REGISTRATION FORM ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 8th (unless we are notified
otherwise of a different payment selection: cash, check made out to MOVES DANCE STUDIO or another credit
card)
We are making it even easier for you this year!
The price of your dancers costume will include the costume, tights (if required), and a Moves Dance Studio
logo’d garment bag. It is your responsibility to ensure your dancer has the correct style/color of shoes for their
dance piece(s) (i.e. pink ballet shoes or black tap shoes, etc.)
Photos of costumes will be available online for you to view as well as in a book at both locations. Required
shoes and any other accessories will be listed here. More information to come!
Costumes are NOT returnable or refundable. If you choose to not participate in the recital, for any reason,
after purchasing your costume, no refunds will be provided. In the event the costume is defective (missing
pieces, strap not sewn on, etc.), too small or too large the costume will be exchanged for a more fitting
size. Please note that we cannot control how quickly the costume company will exchange and ship a new
costume. The costume will be provided to the student in class as soon as we receive it.
CARING FOR YOUR COSTUME
Costumes will arrive during the months of March, April and May. Dancers will try on their costumes during class
to ensure they fit properly. If there are no sizing issues, dancers will take their costumes and tights home in their
logo’d garment bag that same day.
Please be sure to keep your costume in a safe place away from pets and young children. We cannot replace
damaged costumes after you have taken them home! Please do not wear your costume until picture day or
dress rehearsal. Costumes with a tutu should be hung upside down (hang from the bottom of the leotard), this
will give the tutu a little extra fluff!

FINALE DANCE
New this year! All students are invited to participate in our choreographed finale dance which will
conclude the end of the recital performance. The dance will highlight each age/level
group. Everyone will perform a section of the dance with their age group as well as perform all
together on stage for the last section of the piece making a BIG finale to the amazing recital! All
students will learn their section of the routine during their class time over the next weeks leading to
recital and we will have one full group rehearsal at Moves Main as we near the recital date (date
TBD). Everyone will learn the dance in class and everyone is encouraged to perform!!
Costume: Dancers will need to purchase a recital t-shirt (from Moves Main)
and wear plain black leggings
T-shirts will go on sale March 1st. Please let the desk know if your dancer will definitely be
participating in the Finale when purchasing your shirt.
DADDY/DAUGHTER DANCE
Making its raving comeback for its 2nd year in a row….Moves Daddy Daughter Dance! This dance is an
audience FAVORITE! Sign up your Dad, Brother
or Grandpa to dance with your dancer in the
recital. They will learn a choreographed routine at
two, 2 hour rehearsals and perform in the
recital! This is such a fun, memorable, experience
and is sure to bring a smile….and a few laughs to
your friends and family! This is available for both
North Aurora and WSC student families, however,
both rehearsals take place at our North Aurora
location since the same dance will be learned for
both shows. There is a one-time $50 fee/family (if
dad has 3 daughters you still only pay $50). This
fee includes time for the rehearsals and a custom
T-shirt for dad/brother/grandpa to wear for that performance. You will definitely want to be a part of this!! Signup is required and will open today, Wednesday, 1/11/2017. Please sign up at the Moves Main desk or by calling
