Majors Softball AA Softball Ages 9*, 10-12 Ages 6*, 7-8 (Age as of January 1, 2017) (Age as of January 1, 2017) The next step up from Single A T-ball. Girls are taken to a new level of play. Coach pitch makes the game fun and enjoyable for all. Beginners are encouraged. Players will be randomly placed on teams in order to ensure competitiveness through out the league. West Plains Little League provides uniforms and all players receive visors. AAA Softball Ages 8*, 9-12 (Age as of January 1, 2017) Semi-competitive - A great introduction to learning more skills for Double A graduates. Triple A provides a slight competitive level that kids will love as well as a comfortable playing environment. Softball fundamentals, sportsmanship and participation are all emphasized. AAA~6 innings per week~ 6 innings per game. 6 per day in a double header situation. Time Limits: There will be a 1 hr and 45 minute time limit. Time begins at the scheduled game time. Majors~ 4 innings will constitute a complete game AAA~ 3 innings will constitute a complete game We will revisit the time limit in May when daylight hours are longer. Stealing: There is stealing allowed at Majors and AAA levels; runners must slide to avoid a collision. Majors~ Batters can run if the 3rd strike is not caught by the catcher – provided first base is not occupied OR there are two outs. Run Limit Per inning: Majors~ A limit of 7 runs per inning will be imposed AAA~ A limit of 5 runs per inning will be imposed * There are unlimited runs allowed in the last inning of the game, as long as each team has the opportunity to score unlimited runs. In the event that this is not possible the official score of the game will resort back to the previous inning. The last inning is either the 6th or designated by umpire prior to the top of said inning. * There is NO 10 run rule after ANY inning~ play will continue. Batting Order: Majors~ Limited to a 9 batter line-up AAA~ Continuous batting order. All players will bat in the line-up whether or not playing defense. Inning will end after 3 outs or 5 runs score, not after the last girl has batted. AA~ Continuous batting order. All players will bat in the line-up whether or not playing defense. Inning will end after 3 outs or all players have batted. Hit by Pitch: There is NO rule to remove a pitcher after she has hit a batter with 1 or more pitched balls. Coaches are encouraged to work with the pitchers, and ensure the safety of all players. Coaches will be open for discussion during the game regarding the effectiveness of the current pitcher. Coaches: No more than 3 coaches per team. There will be NO parents, siblings, or spectators allowed in dugouts. Players are to remain in the dugout, not in the stands. Home team will choose their dugout. *No sunflower seeds are allowed in the dugouts on the Dora Burt field in Medical Lake. Game Time: Majors and AAA~ Teams play the contest with 7 or more players. If playing with less than 9, team must take an out when vacant positions in lineup come to bat. AA~ Teams will play irrelevant of the number of players present for the game. All other rules are enforced by the current Little League rule book.
