Set against the backdrop of the vibrant city of Victoria, the 2017 Livable Cities Forum will explore how to work

Exploration will continue beyond the Forum walls through mobile workshops in Victoria and the surrounding area.
Participants will be able to see first-hand best practices, ask questions, and really get a sense of what low carbon
resilience means in Victoria.
The Livable Cities Forum will be held at The Victoria Conference Centre, from September 18-20, 2017. For more
information, please visit the event website: www.livablecitiesforum.com/about
We are looking for volunteers to assist us in the following areas:
Event set-up: You will assist conference staff with administrative tasks and logistical support relating to
event set-up on the Sunday before Day 1 of the Forum. Tasks may include: organization of name badges,
preparation of delegate kits, etc.
Registration Help: You will assist conference staff at the Registration Desk as delegates check-in at the
Westin, assuring that they sign in and receive badges, programs, etc.
Greeters: You will help delegates navigate the venue throughout the duration of the conference, directing
people to the appropriate rooms for plenaries, breakout sessions, lunch and networking breaks, etc.
Study Tour Assistants: You will assist conference staff during study tours, assuring that delegates remain
with the group and helping with any logistical issues that may arise.
Photographer: You will be responsible for taking pictures throughout the conference – at plenaries,
sessions, breaks, dinners, etc. We are looking for a volunteer with previous experience in this area,
preferably with access to their own high quality camera.
Guide/info booth/coat check: You will be stationed at the registration desk in order to answer questions
from delegates. In the mornings/evenings you may be asked to assist with the coat check service. Guides
would preferably be local volunteers, as you will be stationed in the registration area to help provide
directions to delegates looking to attend any of our off-site events.
Volunteers will be required to assist with set-up in the mornings and take-down in the evenings, depending on
your shift. Volunteers are responsible for their own transportation to and from The Westin Nova Scotian and
accommodation (if necessary).
We want you to make the most of your experience. You’ll get out of it what you put in, so engage in sessions and
with delegates when you can, and try to learn something new! As a volunteer, you will receive one complimentary
meal per shift worked, and when not on duty you may attend sessions the day of your shift.
