Welcome
Welcome to CASA Breakhouses. We are looking forward
to meeting up with you again if you have been here before,
and if this is your first time we hope that your stay will be a
happy, enjoyable and fun one.
This brief Members Guide has been developed to provide
information about CASA Breakhouses. It is written to
comply with the Health Act 2007, the Care and Support of
Residents in Designated Centres for Persons (Children and
Adults) with Disabilities Regulations 2013 and the National
Standards for Residential Services for Children and Adults
with Disabilities.
This guide outlines the services/supports which will be
provided by CASA Breakhouses during your stay, the
financial contributions asked for, how to get involved during
your stay, how to access the HIQA inspection reports when
they are made available, how to make a complaint, and how
people can arrange to visit you while you are with CASA
Breakhouses if that is what you wish.
What Services and Supports Are Provided?
CASA Breakhouses is a charity established by CASA. See
CASA website at www.casa.ie for more information if you
wish. We offer respite care to people with disabilities in an
atmosphere which values and respects each individual
throughout their short stay. By providing you with a quality
break this also gives your family members a chance to avail
of their own respite.
Our respite breaks provide a warm and supportive
environment in a family like atmosphere. This allows you,
staff and volunteers the opportunity to share your days with
each other while partaking in day activities and social
outings.
During a respite break, you are paired with a volunteer for
the duration of your stay. This one to one care is a hallmark
of CASA’s ethos.
Through this ethos we maximise the
potential benefit of each individual entrusted to our care.
There is also a spiritual dimension to the Breakhouse which
is respectful of each person’s beliefs, background and
ethos.
CASA Breakhouses provides respite for Adults and
Children.
Respite Breaks for Adults
During a respite break you, staff and volunteers live
together sharing and participating in house-hold and social
activities. Some of the social activities which we engage in
include the cinema, bowling and shopping trips. For each
respite group our activities are chosen to cater specifically
for the abilities of the members who are on the break.
Each week we invite a different group of people with
disabilities to the house.
This means that each respite
break is made up of many individuals offering a varied
group of members. We plan and tailor the activities of each
group around the personalities and abilities which make up
the group.
Respite for Children
Some respite groups are designed for children. Activities
include arts and crafts, music, trips to the zoo, playgrounds,
bouncing castles and lots of fun and games.
Terms & Conditions
You will be provided wit a 3 night/4 day break with
individual care offering one-to-one support with additional
support from the Team Leader, Support Workers and
Management.
Respite breaks are coordinated to provide individualised
and person centred breaks.
A voluntary contribution of €80 is requested where feasible.
This will cover all activities, transport and meals provided
during your stay. You are welcome to bring pocket money
for personal shopping at your own discretion.
Relevant documentation must be completed and received
by CASA Breakhouses prior to your stay.
How To Be Involved in the Design of your break?
We encourage all members to be involved in the design
of your break.
You can start this by highlighting your
likes/dislikes on your booking form. Your choices and
preferences are noted in your Personal Plan and shared
across the staff and volunteer team meeting which
happens prior to each respite break.
Where possible
your preferences will be included for you during your
stay.
You can also discuss these preferences with the staff,
volunteers and other members availing of the break,
when you arrive at the house.
If possible CASA
Breakhouses will accommodate your wishes in terms of
activities you would like to participate in.
If you have complex communication difficulties we learn
by observation, interaction and consultation with family
members and others who know the person best to learn
about their preferences.
How to Access a HIQA Report?
Upon commencement of the HIQA inspections, a full
record of all inspection reports will be available from the
person in charge who is Anna Mulville. You can also
access the report directly from the HIQA website at
www.hiqa.ie.
How To Make A Complaint?
CASA Breakhouse welcomes any Comments, Concerns
or Complaints about the services delivered or how to
improve the running of the Breakhouse. Complaints or
concerns about the service will be treated seriously. In
general, we advise that if a CASA member, family member
or advocate has an issue or concern, it should be
discussed with the CASA Breakhouses Manager. We
anticipate that most issues can be resolved informally in
this way.
However, if this is not appropriate or if you feel that the
issue is not being dealt with satisfactorily, you can make a
comment or complaint following the procedure outlined in
our policy on Complaints. We have a Complaints form
which may be completed and sent to the Breakhouse
Manager. If you or your family/representative requires help
to make a complaint then we will assist you to do this.
Can People Visit?
CASA Breakhouses is a short stay of 3 nights. It is usual
that during your break you will be spending that time with
CASA Breakhouses staff, volunteers and other members
enjoying your break.
However, if you wish to receive a
visitor we will facilitate this and welcome your visitor to the
CASA Breakhouses provided the rights of other members
are not compromised in any way.
You have access to
phones while in the CASA Breakhouses.
