1st Annual GSA Indoor Soccer Tournament November 19, 2016 8:30AM – 3:00PM Jack Simpson Gym – Kinesiology B Rosters Team consists of a minimum of 5 players (4 players + 1 goalie) on the field • • • • Maximum of 8 players (3 subs) At least 1 opposite sex player on the field at all times, not including your goalie An opposite sex goalie does not count towards the opposite sex player minimum required on the court 50% of the team rosters need to be graduate students. The other 50% can be undergraduate students, friends or family members of a graduate student All players must register in advance. Deadline to register is 4pm on November 11, 2016 Game Play The length and elimination method will be chosen based on the number of teams signed up: • • • • 8 teams or fewer: Double elimination, 30-minute game each 9 – 15 teams: Double elimination, 20-minute game each + shootouts 16 teams or more: Single elimination, 30-minute game each 15-minute break between each game An update of the detailed game schedule will be sent out one week before the tournament. Prizes • • • 1st place: $300 value 2nd place: $200 value 3rd place: $100 value Prepare for the day of the tournament Prior to the first game, teams must have 4 players confirmed on the roster. If the minimum number of confirmed roster players is not met, the team will receive a loss for every game played until the requirement is met. Prior to the first playoff game, teams must have all players who are playing in the playoff game(s) displayed as part of the confirmed roster. If this requirement is not met, teams will receive an automatic loss and will not be eligible for the championship. A team may bring in subs that were not originally listed on the roster. You will only be provided with granola bars and fruits in the morning Student ID for check in Your own soccer ball(s) if you prefer to use your own. Otherwise, soccer balls will be provided by Active Living’s Soccer Intramurals Clean indoor running shoes or climbing shoes Indoor athletic clothing. Soccer pinnies will be provided for each team for the game Day schedule 8:30AM – 9:00AM: Check-in & distribution of team’s snacks package 8:30AM: Briefing with the officials 8:45AM: Briefing with team captains 9:00AM – 2:45PM: Games with break time in between - Game schedule will be sent out after registration is closed Length of games will depend on the number of teams signed up Game Rules and Regulations To follow rules and regulations of Indoor Soccer of UCalgary Intramurals Sports. Side activities Soccer 101 for your mini ones: Bring your family and friends along to cheer your team on. There will be a small corner for kids and children to learn how to play soccer and have fun.
